ARP Head Studs
I am getting ready to preform a head gasket and arp head stud installation on my newly acquired SC300 5spd and I am having trouble finding the exact ARP part number.
Their catalog lists Toyota 2JZA80 - 203-4205 for the uncut studs. I see no mention of the 2JZGE or 2JZGTE motor, only the 2JZA80. Not it is my understanding that 2JZA80 is just the chassis code.
Are the head studs the same from the 2JZGE to 2JZGTE motors?

undercut studs are made so they dont preload on initial engine break in. when it is a regular stud it will expand in the head and maybe not seat properly. This unstresses the threads, removing them as the weak-point of
the stud. It's a much better design. an undercut stud is a little smaller in diameter where it goes through the aluminum head. it is wider at both ends where threads are.

all i mentioned were advantages of undercut studs over regular stud. i dont understand how it doesnt work. pretty much all cars out there use a bolt to hols down the head and not a stud. the head on most ARP head studs is smaller then the factory bolts. i never did a 2jz. ive done arp studs on pretty much every VW/Audi engine out there, 4AGE's, SR20's, 7MGTE's. never had issues. good luck. post some pics of the problem you're having.
I had this same problem installing my ARP studs on the -GTE motor. Instead of the 13mm 12pt, I used a 1/2" SAE deep socket and it worked perfectly ... try that.
Update: 1/2" deep socket will do the trick. 13 mm wont work. Thanks guy!

Supra TT are exactly what you order for the 2jzgte. My engine was a JDM that was brought up to usdm specs and the ARP studs went in just fine. This is a great upgrade for the engine for all the reasons said by 5sp jzz-30.
