Custom made SC STBs?
Hello everyone...I have post a similar poll in the GS section about manufacturing a STB for the GS...I would like to poll the SC guys too...a version for the SC300, SC400, and the SC430
I just wanted to gauge the interest in this. It will most likely be either Tube style (like the TRD one) or billet bar style (like the RMM) version. I am thinking about offering it in a brushed finish or some type of powercoated finish...In any case, it will not be anywhere in the vicinity of half-***. If there is enough interested, I will see if I can bring one to the next Club Lexus meet (maybe raffle it off)
The cost is still up in the air but I plan on keeping it below $250.
Let me know how many people would be interested...

I would love to get in on an STB deal. I am trying to persuade my parents to get me one for my bday so if u guys could get any thing to go down before Aug. 9, that would be great. Hope u get some pics up.
Ok, here's the deal...the SC people are the largest single group (by poll response anyways...)
Can you guys do me a favor, please post what year your SC is...
MyLexusSC300, I already wrote you down...
I'm keeping a running tab of the people (and their cars) so I can see which STB I should develop first (GS/LS/SC)...

manaray.....i have a 92 SC300 A/T. That would be great if u could keep the price below 250. By the way, are u making these by hand
and also, what material would they be made out of?

but would like to see a pic and price as well. I also have a '92 SC300 A/T. Since there is already one available at $85, yours will either have to look/function better or be priced as low.
Sounds good to me.
I have a '95 sc300 with manual transmission.
Doesn't some make a somewhat universal strut tower brace for this or other cars. I know the "beam" would have to be an exact length, but is there anything else unique about the sc300 strut towers?

Wow, Ok guys...you guys are the official first group for me to design STB's!
Here are some details...
Right now, I'm looking for someone to supply with FORGED bars. These will be bolted onto a steel welded base. The bar will be either brushed or polished. Worse case scenario, the bar will be bar stock aluminum. The mount will be painted or powdercoated black (or maybe another color depending on response)...AND I plan on doing front and back STBs.
mdfdsc300 - who makes a STB for $85?
I am going to try to keep the cost as low as possible w/o cutting corners...

Ok boys and girls, here is what I've got so far...
I have been contemplating different materials for making the STB's. Of course, the natural choices were Steel and Aluminum. Steel being 2x stronger than Aluminum but weighing about 3x as much (about 2.9x to be more exact).
Now considering that I have to make these things THIN w/o sacrificing strength, I looked into something that I think is a near perfect metal...Titanium. It's as strong as steel and only weighs 60% more than Aluminum.
The only downfall is the cost. Titanium costs a lot more. I am talking to a Titanium specialist (who specializes in Titanium frame structures) to see what kind of deal I can work out. If I can not get the bars built within a reasonable price, I will have to look into aluminum (but I think I'm going to make one for myself!)...if that's the route I need to take, then I am going to go with a high grade Aircraft quality aluminum.
I'll keep you guys posted...
MyLexusSC300 - I was going to just bring one (if possible) to the next Southern Cali meet so that people can see it and I was going to raffle it off there...maybe (if the bars get made in time), we can do a "remote" raffle thing...but we'll see...
Hellasboy - Noted...thanks for the input! Most likely, the bases will be black...but if I can get them made in Titanium, I just might leave it the normal greyish Titanium color...

Hey manaray....thanks for all the work ur doing. If u need anything lemme know....I'd try to help u out, but livin in TN is the greatest place to look for Lexus stuff (aftermarket or OEM). Also, I would love having a titanium STB, but if u couls keep the cost to around the price of a golf club, than that would be great. Remember to post pics.
Also, in response to hellasboy wanting black, I wouldn't mind black, but since my car is white (not black like hallasboy), i wouldn't mind having the bar be like chrome, silver, or another "flashy" color (like mabye silver and blue) so then i would have an excuse to get some like blue ignition wires, etc. Black would be fine though.
