Default Need new windshield

I need to replace the windshield on my 98 SC400. I have a crack going 1/2 way across the front after hitting a rock. UGggghhhhhhh.

I'm not going to do it myself and I don't want to pay for the wrong "kind" and not be happy. I don't want to go to the dealer where I know I will get hammered. Anyone do this recently with the proper replacement (tint, color, etc) and what did you pay? I'm paying for this out of pocket and would like to keep it under $300 if possible. Thanks a lot for help.

I think if you make a claim with your insurance, they might do it for you free of charge. Certain insurance plans have that, look into it. We had the windshield replaced twice on our Volvo through our insurance provider (State Farm) and they did it both times free of charge and without a premium bump.

Yeah my insurance just replced mine for free allstate ins. Its a safety issue so most insurace companies want it done. I just requested that it was done with oem glass. No problems and damn how clear it is.

I got mine replaced for $195.00 insurance wouldn't cover it cuz I bought it like that.. just call around to some glass shops for a quote..

They drove to my work and replaced it, put some ugly blue tape on it and left.
