For the longest time I believed that the non vvti 2jz-ge is a non interference engine! IE the one found in my 1995 lexus sc300 was non interference?

But reading some pages from auto data tech series 2000 timing belts domestics and imports classify the 1992-1997 lexus SC300 as Interference engine?!

 

they're wrong.

to make the GE an interference engine you'd need to put in 272 deg. cams.

 

actually, if its the HKS variant, it still wont be an interference engine... to become interference you need to run a certain stage of Crower cams with a very high lift (10mm+ i believe)
