Hey guy's,

I went to Englishtown, NJ this weekend to run a few times. My best time out of 8 runs was 15.63 sec. Is it good or bad? It was very humid and hot. My car is a '95 SC400 and it's 100% stock, oh, no, I have a K&N panel filter. Also, I saw that burgundy SC from OUTBOOST.COM with vinyl roof and gold rims. It looks very nice in person. Thank you.

15.6 sounds about right. Yours is a 250hp car. The 260hp cars (96-97) should be a little faster and the 290hp cars (98-00) obviously faster still. What was the MPH for the run? How about the 60 foot time? Both should be on your time slip (you did keep it right )

Did you weigh the car? Most/many tracks have scales to weigh the car. Stereo equipment, gas level, driver weight, tire/wheel combo all effect total RACE weight (how much it weighed on any given run). This weight is important when comparing times especially if you plan on making mods. Also important is air temperature and humidity.

Question

Sounds slower than average to me. It also depends on the condition of your car. I've personally seen times of 14.9 - 15.2 in the 92-94 models.

sc400? weird... my SC300 ran 15.80 with intake and a set of 18" Enkei RPO-1s a couple years ago... i always thought the V8s ran mid to high 14s? strange... i want to head to the track after the new head gasket and transmission go in the car...

Hey Sean,

I actually work about 10 min. from GWB. Orangeburg. I think they have something going on on E-town every weekend, not sure. I don't have anything on my car except for KN panel filter. E-mail me at work - c_kardoge@BAM.com

Default 60 foot?

Is the 60' time a 2.4?? it is a little hard to read.

If so that is one reason you have a higher than average time.

Were you spinning coming out? Old tires?

Get your launch down, and try again with better weather. You can take out the spare tire, and junk but do not expect a full second maybe a .05 if your lucky.

Personally if you are driving your car to the track I would take all the extra stuff out before I left, leave the spare in there (you never know), get to the track w/ about 1/4 tank of gas.

Gene,

15.6 at 89mph is probably pretty close. I understand an SC300 5-speed being close, after all they are only 25hp less and can launch MUCH harder. I have a 96 LS400, it weighed 3915 with me in it at the track. I ran 15.5 at 90mph on back to back runs hot off the road. I let it cool for about an hour and ran a 15.4 at 91mph. These were with 2.3 60 foot times. Car would NOT spin the tires. I have a 5 speed TBird that makes about 300hp, I have ran 13.7 at 102mph getting 1.96 60fts on street radials... in other words... I know my way around a drag strip.

Several things can improve your performance. Lowering springs can decrease your aero drag and give you a higher mph and slightly quicker ETs. Lighter tire wheel combos increase the RWHP and response of the car. SRT is supposed to be working on an air intake/ECU mod... I would suggest that. Just an open element air filter without cold air can actually HURT performance

The "hands down" best mod is the torque converter from SRT. You WILL need stickier tires with this part

Question

JBrady, I've seen in the car mags from 91' and up.(when they first tested the SC4...) The 1/4 times where reported at close to the time Treon quoted.

As 1stLex and you stated there things to improve launch and 1/4 times.

Let us know...

Question what times have you sc300 5speed drivers gotten??

I haven't run my 94SC300 5speed at the track yet,
not until I get some mod's on.
Just curious what a stock sc300 does...
