wash 2x a week for the dust... and cry 5x a week for the damn waterspots from my neighbors sprinklers!!!!!!!

 

Car cover anyone? My black beauty gets dusty and its garaged @ home & @ work!

 

those hard water spots from the sprinklers are deadly. before i did the 97 conversion to my car, the front bumper had like a new color to it....that water stains your paint..the only way i've been able to get it out was rubbing compound. and yea...the black gets dirty after a couple days. i can stretch a week out of it if i dont drive in dirt or puddles and it dosent rain.

 

Pour a little vinegar on a towel, and let it soak on top of those sprinkler spots for a minute or two, then hose off. It seems to work, there's been many a thread about this in the Detailing forum.

 

yeah i read that thread too.... i should try it, but i still have to park in the same spot so i know it'll get wet again... i'll finally be getting some space cleared out in the garage soon, so i'll try this then. and its just regular vinegar right??? like the one in my kitchen...? and it wont damage it the paint, right?

 

Yep, that would be vinegar

It won't damage the paint so long as your paint is not exposed (i.e. you should have some wax or clear coat on it, i wouldnt try this on bare paint). Also, I wouldn't advise letting it soak for very long. This actually worked on my car, after I left it with a private mechanic that i know. He operates out of his own garage at his house in New Hyde Park, and he had parked my car in his driveway where the door was hit with his lawn sprinklers. A little vinegar and those spots cleared right off (they WOULD not clear with a simple wash).

 

there's no need to wash a car as often as twice a week when all you have is dust. just get a california car duster, it's only like 10 or 15 bucks. it works very well. i only need to wash my car every two or 3 weeks now
