ive heard about these but i dont know anything about them. I see them on ebay all the time. Do they really work? I mean they must add some horsepower? or maybe its just a bunch of bull**** like the Tornado at AutoZone that supposibly spins the air and increases HP's and gas mileage
good God no!!!!!!!!!!!! please noooooooooo, ok if you have an electric "supercharger" that can flow enough air to the engine then yes it would work, but think about it your v8 engine sucks in about 360 cfm at 6000 rpm so if you have something that can flow that much then your engine will be able to run. now if you want some extra power than just stock you electric supercharger will have to flow more than just the 360 cfm it will need to be able to vary the amount of air it can flow because you dont need 360 or more cfm at idle or cruise or what ever, also you need some sort of fuel control or else you would be running lean and your engine would go boom, now if you can find an electric motor that runs at 12volts and doesnt use a gazillion amps and is small enough to fit in the engine bay then sure its possible, otherwise it would just be a gigantic electricity sucking monster, which would over work you alternator then your alternator would go boom too, so basically forget it.
interesting... i've been toying with the idea of making something similar (something that works of course)
but seeing how this guy did it (bettern than what I had planned) the costs outweigh the benefits.
To get some good power (12psi) you'd have to upgrade your alternator, battery, and basically beef up your electrical. Then you've got to compensate for the boost with fuel management.... and the total cost of doing all that is now the cost of a 1jz...
unless you're happy with 5-6 psi... this actually might be for you
I'm not promoting or even defending this product. I have seen it work tho. It's more aimed at cars where turbocharging is not feasible. Mostly FWD V6's and the like.
Considering this for a 2JZ is obviously very retarded to put it nicely.
This system requires supporting mods that are counterproductive. Extra thick wires, extra batteries, electronics, etc, etc. All this will weigh you down.
but i figured i'd mention that the mods needed to make this work won't weigh any more than going turbo.... the extra batteries and bat cap wouldn't weigh anymore than a full turbo system...
(haha i read the FAQ and weight was one of the questions)
