I have a 92 Pearl White SC300. I am thinking about painting the calipers either yellow, red, white, or blue. What would u guys recommend? (I want something flashy and noticible...not like a black or silver.)

White would be classy...Red would be flashy...Gold would be trashy. (Just my opinion...yours may vary.)

If you want something "noticible" (not necessarily flashy), then do a big brake upgrade. If you paint your calipers some other color besides silver or black, all it says "cheezy". It says "I couldn't afford real race brakes so I painted my stock ones a race-like color so that I can look cool." Remember, Yellow = Speed (Ricer's Motto)

Man, don't do it...

Silver or black...white will look wierd and get dirty too easily...

Red, Blue, and ESPECIALLY Yellow just screams BEATER.

Check it out...you'll see what I mean...

I agree with Relapse.

I'm not a big fan of doing "civic-like" upgrades to a Lexus. Putting a Lexus logo on the brake caliper is equavalent to putting a Honday logo or "H" or on your calipers...

Seriously, unless you have a big brake upgrade of some sort, I wouldn't make my brakes stand out (even THEN I wouldn't make them stand out by painting some gay "race" color). Like I said, Silver or Black just to clean it up. Anything else looks stupid.

You can get the Supra brake upgrade for like $600 from Steve...but it says "SUPRA" on it (which is OK for some, but I wouldn't want it say that!)...the RMM kit is like $1200...or you can step up to a sub-$3000 Brembo kit or a $3000+ AP Racing setup.

Here's my setup...as you can see, even with a AP Racing/Stillen 6-Piston big brake setup, I didn't get some flashy paint color for the calipers...when you actually have a real race brake kit, there is no need to advertise your brakes...you know what I mean?

Default IF done correctly

If done correctly RED would look nice, especially with some cross drilled rotors. I would prefer black myself, however remember that Porsches which have the best brakes on the planet for a production car have red and yellow (racing) calipers. I would not consider a Porsche pretending to be a Civic. Now what is ugly are those that paint the DRUMS red. That is just flat out rediculous. I agree with Manaray on the point that his brake setup is much more impressive then just painted calipers. Very nice setup.

Arrow brush it on....

Yes, brush it on a nice clean caliper. Or better yet, take it all apart, degrease, mask the machined area for the pistons and powdercoat! Mine are red on a garnet SC.

The logo may look nice, if done properly.

1SICK, I like ur red calipers and those rims, but why did u put LEXUS in that block letting? IMO, the lettering on xsuperjoex'x is right.

White Diamond - Well on a Porsche, they come factory like that and the Porsche is MUCH more of a race car than a GS! The Porsches can back up the "look", you know what I mean?

Thanks for compliment...don't you think it looks better than painting the stock calipers a "race" color? Of course, it cost a little more...but hey, if you want to play, you gotta pay I guess...

MyLexusSC300 - Those are 20" (x8.5 in front, x9.5 in back) model 543's...silver is cool, but the "LEXUS" across the brakes is tacky.

VJ604 - Steve = Steve Ganz @ Carson Toyota...he's Club Lexus's main parts guy...super cool guy, great prices. Whatelse do ya need?

As for painting, I think Black or Silver is perfectly fine...in fact, I would it if I had stock brakes because the stock brakes aren't even one uniform color! But when you start getting into "race" colors like red, blue, yellow etc., I think that's better left to the ricers...AT LEAST have "race" brakes if you're going to do a "race" color!

THERE IS NO NEED for the logo on the calipers when you have STOCK calipers. People KNOW your car is a Lexus, they KNOW that the brakes are by Lexus...no need to over advertise that fact... I mean you don't put a POWERED BY LEXUS sticker on your hood do you? Why not get a Cadillac Escalade size emblem on your trunk and front grille too? Hell, why not get one made in SHINY GOLD, get a big GOLD LINK CHAIN, and wear it around your neck?

1SICKLEX - Who likes it? Just people in general? Or people that own Civics?

I'm even thinking about changing that STILLEN plaque to Black with MATTE silver letters...
