I bought one of these from Japan a while back. Aoshima 007211. Finally started messing with it, first time ever doing a model car. I painted it with some testors paint(silver metallic) but I got streaks, and runs. So I bought some decent spray paint instead, and decided to sand out the crap paint. I don't know why I thought 160 grit would be good, but I basically destroyed the body. Just like everything SC related this is getting expensive...

What paint did you use? I'm pretty sure my Aoshima SC is crap, but I also have the vertex version which I'm thinking of painting today. I'm using Krylon Cover Maxx, and I've tested a few pieces and the colors just don't come out like they show on the can.

Damn that's an easy kit huh? Well I'm working on mine now, sanded it at 2000 grit. It wont look as clean as yours, I'm going to have to do a few layers of paint to hide the scratches I created, and hopefully clear with a buff and polish will make them hard to spot. I sanded too much early on and now one of the door handles is basically gone. Also lost some of the clean SC lines. I'm liking this model stuff though. I just wish I started with a cheaper model as mine cost me about $45 and now the body is messed up. Did some googling, it seems if you have to sand for whatever reason you should start with 800 grit and work your way up as high as you'd like. I'll post a few pics when it's done.
