Default wires and plugs changed, impressions...

Hi all!
Yesterday I changed my old spark plugs and spark plug wires in my 1994 S.C. I use new stock OEM wires and plugs. Its look as nobody changed its before (sure about cables: write “yazaki 1993”) Car have 177 k miles.
After changing first impression was trac lamp that come at 1-2 gear shift at full throttle (never before). Car fell quicker and better revs in 5-6 k RPMs (but not as good as should I think still).
Next was g-tech. Before cables and plugs best was 7.2 sec to 60 MPH. After at first attempt was 6.75 sec to 60 MPH (was no opportunity made another test that day).
So looks as changing wires and plugs give me 0.5 sec. Looks good...

Pisc: new wires before, and old ones on engine (how dirty that was...)

Jerry

old wires.......
Two of them have resistance so high that my meter was reading infinite resistance, and another was 200 ohms ... and one beyond 40 ohms...
max for my new wires is 14 ohms (for longest ones)

i'm in the middle of gathering parts for a little tune up. how much did you pay for those wires? so far i just bought a timing belt and spark plugs as i feel they need replacement more than other things.

not compare that prices: in Poland toyota parts are more expensive...
But for spark plugs and wires I pay about US$ 320.

Has anyone noticed how small our wires are? They are very thin, I'm sure with an upgraded set of wire you would see even more of an imporvement.

I am not sure if size metter at that case at all. They are very well made and come preasembled. They are thin but I am sure toyota made them good.
I have bad experience with some aftermarket wires. When I had mk3 supra turbo I replaced oem wires with some two times thicker "Bosch" ones. Car was run like crap and after 2 month they was totally useless. So not sure if bigger wires will be better....

I had a similar experience when I changed out my wire set. In my case, the car was idling pretty rough, but after the swap it was smooth as glass again. The old set measured very high (over 1k) on two leads. I was able to find a factory set on-line for around $99 .. there are cheaper deals if you want to try to make up a set yourself, but for me the time saved was well worth the few beans I might have saved.
