=( bad luck hits again.
ok so im pretty new to my sc400 im a 19 year old kid working full time going to school. ive had my sc400 for about a month and i love it to death, but when i got it the power stearing pump was bad and i was asured that it wouldnt affect anything because of it. well to find out it does it, it ends up running the cooling fan so because of this it broke the seal with my water pump and i had a leak in the radeator so i replaced that. but it will still running hot and it ended up killing my head gasket. so i dont know what to do. i still owe 2k on the car lol....
shop
power stearing 500
water pump 700
head gasket 1100
for the parts i looked it up on like its 350 for all of it. im pretty good at working on cars and i have replaced all this **** on my old civic many times around. im just wondering if anyone knows how much harder it would be to do it on the sc400 v8
if anyone knows where i could see some pics or something like that it would help me so much.
Thanks
Drew

The head gasket is the killer. It's almost cheaper/easier to buy a low mileage used engine and drop it in rather than changing the head gasket. Used engines can be found for $400-500.
The power steering pump is easy
The water pump is time consuming but not too difficult
The prices quoted seem high so I'd shop around if you are going to get this work done.

If you've done it on your civic, it's pretty much the same concepts. Use the money you're going to pay them on tools for doing the job. If you really think you can't do it, then pay someone else but that's just my .02

Sorry your luck sucks right now. If you want to do this yourself do this:
1. Get the Lexus service manual for your car. It will pay for itself the first time you use it.
2. Like OLT said, check w/ Aliga or any other parts vendor...you'll save some $.
3. I'd check your alternator too, because when the PS pump goes out, it usually takes out the alt as well. If it didn't, then you are lucky in that respect. Whoever told you that a bad PS pump wouldn't affect anything was BS-ing you.
