Hey, guys...

I need some help quickly if anyone can help diagnose a problem. Last week, I had my Valentine V1 plugged into my cigarette lighter and it started to go on and off. When it was doing this, the climate control would also go on and off at the same time. So I unplugged the V1 and haven't used it since. But the climate control still goes on and off at times. It wasn't doing it very often. I could drive many times without a hitch. Then other times it would go off at a 10 or 15 minute mark and then go right back on. Well as of last night, this all changed. The climate control now goes on when I start the car and it's in park. But as soon as I press the button on the shifter, the climate control goes off. So currently as soon as the button is pressed and I put the car in any gear, the climate control is off. And of course in Chicago you know that means that I really can't drive the car (foggy windows). Has anyone had this problem before? When this first happened, I suspected a possible problem with the fuse, but that would generally mean the thing would just shut off and stay off. This intermittent problem has me worried a bit. I'm wondering if there's a real electrical problem now. And I'm wondering if I'll have to take the whole console apart. I'm wondering if some metal or something slipped into the holes inside the cigarette lighter holes or something. I can't see anything but I wonder if that's what happened. Anyway, can anyone help?

it would go on and off as in the screen? or the fan?

If the fan still moves and it is not pushing any head you could check out the heater control valve.

 

the screen...it goes blank (but is still backlit...just nothing on it and the climate control doesn't work).
