It was the power steering pump leaking on the alternator. I had the pump rebuilt and used a spray cleaner specifically for alternators/motors and a few days later, the problem never came back. This was AFTER replacing the ground cable which in my case did no good. It has been a year and a half and the car doesn't blink in the least bit at night like it used to do when I hit the brakes.
Ok, I bought the GS300 cable, cut off the excess and capped the exposed end. Status?
No problems so far. Absolutely none, I can now leave my lights on "auto", play my radio, turn on my radar detector and press my brakes all at the same time without my car doing it's resetting dance.
From what i've read on this board, 95SC400's problems is also a 'common' problem that has the same effects as the bad ground cable. 95SC400's problem can be more damaging and $$$ if left unchecked. These 2 problems seem to be the majority of the SC's problems.
they diagnosed ****. with the help of this forum, i diagnosed that it was teh ground cable and i think it seemed to have worked. its been over 1100 miles since they did it and the car has not stalled or the lights and a/c havent dimmed. now to get them to pay me money....
I've spent many years of my life working as a mechanic(or Tech in todays terms),and must say that I don't know what I was thinking when taking my car to a dealer in the first place, maybe I was just wowed by the quality and styling of these great cars, and thought that the quality of service would be exemplary,or something.
I must be slipping in my age...
Thank goodness for forums like this one.
