Question Side markers

First of all i already know how to do this mod, this is more of a question of colors.
So far i have gotten my fogs and lowbeams changed to piaa hyper whites, and i have always wanted to change my side markers. I already know i want to do the clear ones with no texture. NOW here comes my question, since my car is black should i paint the interior of the side marker chrome or black? Also should i change the lights to a white color to match the piaa's, or should i just get chrome/orange bulbs to keep the orange look at night. Since i dont have chrome rims i cant decide if thats going to look good or not with chrome clear side markers. Any suggestions?

paint it chrome and use an orange bulb. I believe having an orange sidemarker is required by law in some states. I may be wrong but I never like to get screwed with by cops so I'd check out the law first...then mod away.

I did exactly what you're explaining, clear, no texture, chrome paint, w/ chrome colored bulbs. Now thinking about how all of this should come together, one would imagine that it would look pretty darn slick. BUT I think it just doesn't look quite right I'm very picky & at a first glance it's very noticeable that the shiny chrome paint color just doesn't match the headlights. You can also see ANY type of imperfection in the sidemarker when you are up close. All in all I guess they look fine, but they just don't have the classy & sporty look that I'm going for. So I've decided to grab a pair of jdm markers when the opportunity pops up. If I had the choice now to do this mod over again, I wouldn't, but that's just me. Hope this helps, post pics when you're done!

you dont really need chrome rights, what I hav ewith my sidemarkers are white led's with a clear plastic siliconed on, courtesy of lex400sc

Its only version one, I didnt spray chrome paint on it. But I think I might in the future.

If it were me, I'd paint the reflector to match the body, then use an amber LED so you wouldn't see any color but the black reflector. Just my $0.02

update: i took the side marker out, took out off the amber lens, sanded it down for a smooth and even surface. After that grey had shown through the chrome color so i repainted it chrome, (i used plastikote chrome and it matched perfect). I take the cd case out, cut it ( i didnt do a good job) then i get ready to glue it on and come to find out the leds that i had as a temp thing were to long. So i went ahead and made the other side and ended up cracking that one when i was almost done. Then i ran out of time and had to go to work so now i have no side markers in, and i have electrical tape behind the holes to cover it up. Its ghetto riged right now, but i plan on having it all put back together by the end of this weekend when i have time.

southernsc, looks like you had a pretty tough time with this whole deal. Using a cd case will get alot of scratches, and make sure you do a really good seal with sillicone. LED"s are a must because they will not melt the cd case plastic. Is that plastikote chrome a spray or just paint?
