Question

I was driving along, then after pulling away from a stop light, the "check engine" light came on, and "traction control off" light came on too -- Traction control does not work now. Any ideas? Ground wire issues? Computer failure?
93 SC400 102K miles.

Default o2

I had that problem with my 92sc4, it was the Oxygen censors. Check the Engine code first, I never got a code for the O2 censors...

I had the same problem with my 92 sc400 (146k miles). I still have not fixed it, and it was the code for o2 sensor. If I remember correctly, there are 4 o2 sensors on mine. I believe the codes tell you which one is bad. HOWEVER , since I didn't want to spend the money, I found that pulling the fuse for the ECU for about 30 seconds reset the traction control and check engine light. I used to have to do this often, but mine rarely kicks the light off anymore. It also seemed to reduce in occurence when I put the K&N filter on about a year ago. Good luck!!

rx300 - 2011- 124K, i am not a mechanic at all, just regular user
check engine and VSC light is on and off for months, car fuel consumption when too high, from avg 20.1 mpg in aug 2010 to 14.5 mpg now. Few times car didn't want to start and think black smoke coming from the exhaust, intake manifold repairs last week, brought it to local mechanic to check the "check engine" code , he said oxygene censor. is it possible the fuel consumption when up because of this censor and is it possible there are more damages that are done already to other parts? plugs are cleaned but not changed, he says they are still good, should I change them considering i am not the first owner and i have no idea if they have been changed? thank you for any advise

if its for an rx300, youre in the wrong forum entirely....

it sounds like it would relate to the repairs to the intake. wouldnt be surprised if you had a vacuum leak. they need tlo check the repair.

I currently get the same thing every now and them, it is in fact my 02 sensor I've checked the code before. Like stated I've pulled the fuse and it goes away for some time. Car does a run a little rich just haven't had time to change it out and get a new one.
