get the right tire size and offset. dont get knock off cheap rims they wont fit correctly.

 

Some 20s can look "too much". Raise or lower the car depending on how you want it to look. 20s fit without rolling the fenders as long as you get the right offset.

Since you're asking for opinions I'll give you mine. Just don't hold it against me later.

I think you should upgrade to different wheels because frankly the ones you have now do not suit the SC at ALL. Wheels like that should be kept on 80's Regals and Impalas.

With that said, getting 20's for the SC poses many issues you may not want to deal with. RAISING IT IS A HUGE NO NO. If you raise this car and put 20's on it, you'll need a ladder to get inside your new SUV. Please for the love of all things tasteful do NOT raise it no matter what. If you get 20's, you need to SLAM this car to make it look right. Doing this will cause issues like rubbing, or even destroying the wiring harness that's above the front wheels.

Don't believe me? I've seen it happen.

My opinion is you get a quality set of 19's in staggered fitment (say an 8.5 up front and a 9.5 or a 10 out back). If you have the money to spend, get something like HRE or iForged. If not, keep it Japanese and go for a nice forged jap wheel that suits the car. Try to stay away from chrome. Styles most suited to the SC are simple 5-spoke wheels or a mesh type wheel. It doesn't require loud wheels.

This is important:

The SC is a car that has a body that does not need loud wheels to call attention to it. The car does a good job of that all by itself. You do NOT need chrome, 20" sizes, spinners, wheels that stick out, or attention-grabbingly fugly wheels like you would on your otherwise POS '85 Caprice. A nice, clean and simple wheel is all you need. If your wheels are the only thing that people ever notice about your car, there's a problem.

Notice how the whole car is balanced....not all wheels, not all kit...a balance. Sell those and peep the classifieds....you will find a deal. Trust and believe.

I am with you on wanting 20" rims (I have a set on my sc3). But they are right, the style of the wheel is gonna have a lot of affect on how the combination works. I went with 20" chrome Lowenhart LD1's. These wheel have a 5 spoke basic design and a nice lip. My car is lowered with tokico blues and 1" Eibach prokit lowering springs. No rubbing or fitment issues, just the clean look I wanted (and 20" of chrome to boot.......)

 

I have 20's on my sc300 and they are BEAUTIFUL. Most people don't even realize that they are 20's because they fit so well. I went with 245/35's and the side wall is plenty for ny road conditions. +35 offset has the wheels right to the edge but not sticking out in any way. Keep the car stock height and you will have no clearance problems. Only concern I had once wheels were installed was a slight rub from a weak strut. The damper allowed wheel to travel outside standard range on sharp dips but NOT bumps. Even still, the contact was rubber to plastic with no visible damage ANYWHERE

I have 18inch 18/8 wheels with a 225 30 tires, It makes the car look great I was considering 19's but the tires are expensive and not alot of shops keep them in stock. I would have considered 20's but for daily driving that I do no way the tires are expensive and the ride quality would be crap looks nice but the 18's are in my opinion are the best bet for looks and are not as heavy as going 19+ . They look coo even thou my car isnt lowered but I will be droping it
