Default Rear Deck Squeaking ???

This is really annoying. I've been trying to solve this for the past 2 weeks. When I pull into a parking lot, over a curb the rear deck area squeaks and sounds like an old pickup truck - yuck. I've been wedging double-stick tape along the base of the window and the base of the sail panels in an attempt to fix, but I still hear the sound. It's a creaking sort of noise - arrrghhh. Any ideas? Thanks.

Default Squeaking Noise

Are you sure the squeaking is coming from your rear deck and not the rear suspension?

Definitely interior related. It's only on uneven turn-ins, like pulling into a raised driveway - when the chassis is torqueing ever so slightly. Speed bumps won't do it.

I have squeaking too, but I believe it's my suspension and old leather rubbing against itself. I tried to isolate it but I couldn't, it appeared at first to be my pasenger's seat. I sprayed WD-40 into the joints and brackets of the seat and the squeaking stopped for a while but then came back...damnit...it's like you have to have someone ride in your backseat with the radio off and have them listen for the squeaking. Problem with that is if it's the rear seat that's squeaking the pressure from someone sitting on it will muffle the sound. Damn squeaking!!! I think I'm just going to buy a mega-watt sound system to drown out the noise!!...

Default Squeaks

Does the squeak sound like metal to metal? metal to plastic ? or plastic to plastic?

Mine sound like plastic to plastic or fiberboard to glass. I strategically placed the foam double-stick for the later.

In my case I don't think it's the seat so I'm going to have someone sit in the back seat in hopes of isolating the noise.

Default squeak

Good Luck
I am sure you will trace it down.
I have a problem in my 93 SC400 not a squeak but a rattle coming from my roof.
Believe it is the sunroof sliding unit is loose, I am hoping I can use some magic tape to fix it.
You are correct though you do need a passenger to find the cause.
Pretty hard to be putting pressure on your rear deck elements while you are driving.
I know, I have almost had 2 accidents just trying to track down the noise in my sun roof slider.

I have the same problem with mine, although it seems to be growing less frequent. It started after I had my windows tinted. I think it stemmed from the window guy crawling around in my back seat and pushing on my rear deck while applying the tint. It's been driving me crazy! If it was, in fact, a result of the guy putting up the tint, I'm hoping that normal driving will settle whatever awkward positon he's put the rear deck in, as I've tried sitting in the back while someone else was driving. Only time will tell. . .

There is a rubber bushing on the top of the rear struts, right below the rear deck, that squeek when they are wearing out. Should be the source of your sounds.

The sound is almost non-existent when the car has sat in the sun for a while - would this sympton rule out the bushings? It's also much less noticeable when I have two ppl in the back seat.

My car also squeak sometimes, espicially around turns or over bumps. My dealer says it's my suspension. Bad shocks and worn out bushings. Need to replace next.

Welp, it wasn't any part of the suspension. I removed the seats and panels again to try and find it. It turns out it was some sort of plastic on metal brace along the top portion of the rear glass - just under the headliner. It looks like a 1" white plastic tab, probably used to aid in the original placement of the glass. I took a flat head and chiseled some of it away and then pull off more of it with some needle nose. Now at last I am squeak free. Oh I also fixed my radio **** today as well - dirty contacts. It's been a productive afternoon.
