i don't think there are usual suspects. car too new. but could be rear damper mount or something else loose in the trunk.

i have a "clunking" noise in the rear and have taken it in three times with no fix. There is a theory from the dealer that it could be coming from the roof. They do not think it is suspension related even though it happens when going over bumps/road irregularities. It gets louder and louder so eventually it will be too obvious for them to not pinpoint. One thing i've been wanting to do is have someone drive my car while i sit in the back seat so i can try to pinpoint it myself. It does seem to get louder as the gas tank empties so I do believe it has something to do with the chassis and/or the load in the rear of the car.

I have not had it fixed yet, but I can confirm 100% that my clunking noise is coming from some mechanical part in sliding moonroof. I don't know why it took me so long to do this basic test, but all I did was open the moonroof while driving slowly over some bumpy roads and the clunking went away entirely. Closed the roof and clunking came back. This simple test can tell you whether or not you are having the same problem as I am having. At least now I know what is up so I can have it fixed. Good luck to others with their problem.

I've also noticed that on certain bumps when the rear of the car compresses, it almost sounds like the rear are hitting the bump stops. I can't imagine this is normal especially for a car with under 30k miles.
