wierd brake ques... only one side worn!???
My rear brakes were squeeking so I go to change them out.
Passenger side is worn done, I swap in a new set, everthing is NORMAL.
But when I check the driver's rears brakes.
The pads STILL have more then 60% on them!!?!??
What the hell is wrong???
I don't think the parking brake uses the same caliper, right? (I was guessing maybe one side isn't disengaging???)
kinda puzzled.....

...I have the same exact problem...I was told by a friend that my piston is frozen on the passenager side because it was so hard to compress the piston when we were changing the brake pads....
same thing happened to me, except the two sides had different brand brake pads... So Im guessing the previous owner did something really stupid and only changed one side at a time. I dont know
go in and re-grease all your caliper pistons, when that was happening to me that was the cause, stuck pistons. They would squeeze down fine, it was the return part where they would freeze. The pad just wore down unevenly to compensate for the caliper not fully releasing. Hope this helps.

that's the one time use pack. if you want more they sell it in bigger sizes.
Dennis, get the big tube and save yourself some time. I hate those little packets. And don't skimp on the grease, a couple of my caliper pistons were seized in there due to zero lubrication. (I know some of you jokesters are gonna have a field day with that last line)
i think you need high temp gease for caliper pins not brake caliper grease....i always thought you use brake caliper grease like that for inbetween the caliper and pad, that stuff tends to become hard after a while and then it will cause your pins to seize up again.
Just brought myself a tub of caliper grease @ Autozone..Cost me $11.50...The price is kinda steep but, at least my brakes will be fully function...I'll deal with the caliper this weekend and let you guys know how it goes...

Dennis, if you haven't opened the lube yet go back and see if they have bearing grease or another high temp type grease, if it makes you feel better that is. Otherwise the stuff you have should do the trick with no issues.

that stuff is like RTV when it's dried and basically it glues the pads to the caliper.
that stuff above is high temp grease....i've used it for years for many cars and many rebuilds and brake jobs. not one problem.
