Thinking about new SC red or black
Ok... well I'm thinking about selling my 1995 SC400 and looking for a new car... a 1999 or 2000 SC400 now I'm not sure which color I want more, red/tan or black/black
to be honest, I like the red exterior of my 95, but not so happy with the tan interior, I have seen like one 1998 SC400 red/black but never seen one for sale since
the alternative to this is a black on black SC400 which are more numerous
what do you guys think? black or red?
anyone wants to buy my SC400?

For me, I was looking for black interior, I don't care for the tan, never have been a fan of tan interior on any car and since Lexus didn't issue grey interior for 98 or 99, I waited for what seemed like forever for a black interior. I love how the black interior looks around the radio/ac console. Delicious!!! and the charcoal carpet doesn't show dirt and the leather seats don't show dirt. The Nak was also a must for me so my wait was even longer.
I just love my black/black SC 400. Yeah here in FL it takes time to keep it clean but so worth it with my 3 coats of Zaino. I get alot of lookers.
Red/Black would be my 2nd choice.
Good luck!!!

carnal c30, I have the best of both worlds (as far as you are concerned). I have a 95 SC4, red w/black interior. I looked long and hard for it and finally found one - not to mention it only had 52K miles (now has 64K). If you really like the red exterior, I would hold out and search until you find what you are really looking for. Black interior is the ONLY way to go, in my mind. I've had the tan in my Acura RL and gray with my BMW 5-series, and I would never have anything but black again.
Good luck with your search.
Good luck with your search.
If you're really looking for "the right" 99 or 00, you won't have the luxury of being so choosy. You won't really appreciate how rare nice examples of these cars are until you start looking but I looked for over a year for one at least as nice as my red 96 SC400 and only found one which was sold (to someone else) within minutes of me seeing it. My preferred colors were also red and black (with TRAC and heated seats). I finally gave up an bought a red SC430.
Good luck,
George

exactly.... I've been keeping an eye out for about 6 monthes now, the only red/black I saw was a 1998 with 80k miles- a bit higher mileage than I'm looking for, this time around I want an absolutely perfect condition SC with low mileage so I can keep it looking new forever
my 95 SC4 is red on tan, paint is beautiful but with 129k miles I just want to find the perfect one to keep in my collection
only thing getting in the way of this quest is... a black on black '02 M5 that might be an option if I buy this week

Good Luck,
I was doing a national search on autotrader 4 to 5 times a week and looking at cars.com as well. Many of the late model ones are lease turn-in and not very nice.
I know 97 and 98s are more available but there are a couple of nice things (perfed seat, three spoke steering wheel, larger brakes) that make the 99s and 00s worth looking for. I briefly owned a red 99 that turned out not to be a keeper but those little goodies are nice. For me, no M5 could replace a fine SC400.
If you find one in the east, reasonably close to Washington, I'd run to look at it for you. And if you bought it, I'd even drive it west for the price of a ticket back.
