Default Instrument Cluster Lighting Solution

So when I originally went to repair the back lighting on my 1995 SC300 instrument cluster, I went with the Tanin LED kit. Since then I have had many of the bulbs Tanin sold me burn out. Also, they are a true white color. I have since discovered an LED bulb that almost matches the original warmer yellow of the original incandescent bulbs perfectly.

The new LED bulbs I am using are from https://www.superbrightleds.com/

The part number for the bulbs is 74-WWHP3, 10-16 VDC, 360 Beam Angle.

Please see my build thread for a good set of instructions on replacing the bulbs.

Hope this is helpful.

My needles are starting to go and I need to do this too. I LOVE that these are a little closer to the original hue. I hate the brite white replacements as they don't match anything else in the car unless you go through the center console and do the same. Lookin good out there man - maybe I'll pull mine out and give this a go over the winter time.

I'm ordering all new OEM bulbs soon for mine. I haven't had much seat time in my SC this year but the LED backlighting bulbs they installed (at my request) aren't always 100% perfect. I think it's just the nature of aftermarket LEDs in those locations perhaps. In 2010 just after getting my car I installed all new OEM backlighting bulbs and they were still 100% perfectly operational when I sent my cluster to Tanin sometime in... 2021 I think? No complaints about the needle upgrade though!

bbyatv, if you'll be doing this be sure to run the specs of those bulbs by the notes in O.L.T.'s thread on the subject as he's our resident expert on 1992-2000 SC instrument clusters:
