Question VSS (Speed Sensor), Trans Fluid

Hello, recently I've been getting bad shifts out of first and after 15-30 mins of driving on the highway I me o/d light would start flashing. I've done a lot of research on this, and I think the conclusion that my VSS (Veachel Speed Sensor) is bad (bad shifts, speedometer is shaky, o/d flashes) and my trans fluid is bad (its a darkish maroon colour). Does this make sense? I am thinking about replacing both the VSS and trans fluid at the same time. Any info anyone has on this I'd appreciate.

Thanks

Trans fluid should be replaced, but if you can afford it, request a transmission test kit from Blackstone. The kit is free99, you get charged once you send in the sample and request the test, and they will send you an overall condition of the transmission. It was like $45 a couple of years ago.
