Cool

I want to know what guys have done in terms of TOP SPEEDs, 0 - 60, and 1/4 et's in the SC (or any of the 8cyl or 6cyl cars). Also list any mods the car may have...

I have a posh SC4 with a few mods and I've seen 146 mph on a stretch of hwy from Shreveport, LA to MS. The coupe was powerful, staple, and felt as if i could've gone faster, but my K-40 went off and i wisely backed out.(WHEW, a trooper had some one else pulled over...) How much faster could i have truly gone??? My 1/4 mile time was 14.7 using a stop watch and 6.6 0-60, 14.8 & 14.9 1/4 et., twice with one of those G-tech plug detector type devices. I borrowed the g-tech from a guy at a local speed shop. How reliable are the methods i used to obtain times???

Great Coupes and Great Site!!! Let's post info as soon and as much as we can !!! Hey, did i say Great Site!?!?

Ikon, the GForce reading can be accurate or off depending on road conditions ie: level vs incline/decline. Nonetheless your car sounds like a strong runner. What year is it? I have a bone stock 96 LS400 with the 260hp/270tq engine. I ran 15.4 @ 91 at the track. The fastest I have gone so far is 120mph but the 95-97 cars are un-governed and reportably reach 156mph. I seem to remember the SCs being 1 or 2 years behind on the power upgrade from 250 to 260hp but don't know on the 290hp upgrade that the 98+LS got.

Cool How fast

No 0-60 or 1/4 mile times, but....I have had my bone stock 300 up to 135mph twice the first year I had it. I am really not sure how much more it had cause fear got the best of me....and the road was coming to a quick end.

Talking correct times

Ikon.

I got the same mods you got except all ignition is stock in mine. I have tested mine at the same 14.7- 14.8 numbers, I also have stock mufflers and resonators but no cats.

I haven't top ended my car but ran at 142mph for some time while "cruising" before ran out of "safe road". Car felt extremely controlled yet experienced some "luxury" float feel at those speeds. I am more used to my RX-7 sportiness.

I think changing to sport coils and shocks can improve highspeed feel but I don't want to sacrifice the stock softness while city driving.

Take care.

Thumbs up

Mind, I agree with you that performance suspension would help high speed "feel" but as I get older I REALLY appreciate the smooth quiet ride that Lexus is renouned for. My car is very capable as is and I will probably leave the stock suspension alone even after significant power mods.

Unhappy Top speed

I'm redline limited to around 145-150 with the stock 5spd driveline. Only takes around 10 seconds from 60-120, so my throttle can't remain planted for long...A pity.

I've had my car up to the quoted top speed of 141 mph that I had seen in one of the major car magazines. My car was right at redline and the speedo needle was just over 140 mph and the car felt very stable. The only scary part was that I felt like I was outrunning my headlights.
