Default Remote Start Options for Lexus?

Hi everyone,

I’m new to the group and also a first-time Lexus owner. I was wondering if there’s any way to start the car remotely or access it keylessly. I noticed that the Lexus Link app doesn’t seem to have this feature, and I couldn’t find anything about it in the manual either.

I’ve come across some third-party apps that offer this functionality, but they seem quite expensive. Does anyone know of a way to start the car remotely without relying on third-party options?

Thanks in advance!

Let me know if you need further adjustments!

You can do all of that on the app, make sure you have the new updated version. My last Lexus was about 5 years ago and the app wasn’t very good but it’s since been updated. You need to hold the icons in order to trigger them.

Hi Ellocovg,

Thank you for your response. I found it in the settings. I should activate the services. Now all done👍

Make sure you lock the car before trying to remote start. Mine will not start if it is unlocked. Keep in mind it turns off in 20 minutes.

Also, keep it plugged in at home and remote start in the morning if you are in a chilly frosty environment. It works well in Massachusetts winters when parked outside. Set it up with defrost mode.

Why exactly do you want to "remote start" the RZ?
If your goal is to pre-heat or pre-cool the car before getting in, you can turn climate control on demand from the Lexus App, or pre-schedule climate activation 5 mins before you normally get into the car:

I was using the phrase "remote start" to preheat or precool the car in the app.

I'm in Mass. too.
My daily commute is about 50 mi. round-trip. Even though I purchased the Charge Point Level 2 charger, I've not installed it yet. I currently have a weatherproof 110v plug outside my garage I plug into with the stock cord. It's slow, but I get to 100% battery charge overnight. When I "remote start", aka "Precondition" the vehicle in the morning, I get a significant drain on the battery, even while still plugged in.

I;m wondering, Do you use a L2 charger at home? If so, do you still have 100% charge in the battery after preconditioning?

I'd like to get the L2 charger installed, but I was disappointed to find out after purchasing the charger that for my zip code, the state of MA is not giving me a tax credit for the installation costs. Were you able to get any assistance on the charger installation at your home?

That sounds about right.

I've used a home L2 charge on all my EVs for 10+ years.
Depending on ambient temps, pre-heating and/or pre-cooling can draw more current than even an L2 charger can supply.
It is impractical to own an EV without ready access to an L2 charger. Not impossible, but impractical, as you will fast find the limitations of relying on L1 trickle-charging.

If you are mildly handy, you can DIY charger installation in your garage.
To make things even easier, most home garages are physically adjacent to washer/dryer rooms with ready access to US-standard NEMA 14-50 plugs used to power electric dryers. If you have one of those and you buy an
 L2 charger with a 14-50 plug L2 charger with a 14-50 plug
, then the wiring can literarlly become plug-and-play.
