RZ Newbie Questions
The Dynamic-Skyroof is only available on the Luxury model … if you don’t have the Luxury version, you’ll need to either buy the Lexus manual shade (for about $300), or one of the after-market sun shades that are available.
Hope this helps.
1) I’m trying to figure out controls and features etc, and I’m reading the owner’s manual for our RZ300e Premium. I think the pdf ought to be specific to the features one has, so it wouldn’t be so confusing! I mean, if I plugin my VIN, Lexus knows what features I have. Why doesn’t the pdf eliminate all the descriptions that aren’t relevant to me? I find the manual less than useful!
2) We don’t have a garage, and I’d rather not have the moonroof, but there we are. I’m trying to figure out how to protect against heat gain during the summer, and whether the moonroof protects against UV rays. I found https://www.agc-automotive.com/en/ne...ated-bev-model which suggests that the RZ has good UV protection already. I’d be more sure if Lexus said so too, but I did see that the label on the roof glass says “LAMISAFE” so I think that means it’s a step up from the tempered glass Lexus used in some earlier models. Anybody know?
3) The documentation indicated the default setting for the reverse beep was only one beep. I wish!
4) Our seatbelt warning goes off if any of the rear seats aren’t buckled, even though no one is sitting there and there are no packages. Can that be the way it was designed? (Our Prius didn’t do that…)
I’m cautiously optimistic that I’ll come to love this car, but so far I’m not sure.
Cost was about $350. I justified the purchase as I have two Lexus vehicles. and it also works with my GMC truck and my BMW. It allows me to change a setting just like the dealer, try it out, and if I don't like it I can then pick another option or return to the Lexus default setting.
Lexus dealership service would not change the reverse beep for me. The line was that the constant reverse beep is now a mandated setting as too many EV drivers have failed to switch into drive without a drive cue like the forward jerk of an ICE vehicle on shifting and had accidents.
Service tech I found in a forum said it is protection for the dealers as folks claim that the electronic shifting mechanism had failed. Thus the constant beep. I really don't think it is a bad idea after having mine off for several months. I reset it to default and just minimized the volume.

The sunshade from Lexus does a good job by keeping the temps being scorching to hot in 90f weather. I am happy with it. It does a better job than the screen the Audi/WV screen on it's panoramic roof. You can get some cheaper versions form Ebay for about $100. I do like the fit and finish of the Lexus.

Why would you want to disable it?
For all practical purposes, the Xtool (or similar) provide read/write access to more device-centric configuration settings than what is exposed through the in-car UI.
The upside - you can customize things more to your likeing, including turning off just about all the nagging reminders and alarms.
The downside - UI is not particuarly customer friendly, and you are on your own figuring out what Toyota had intended to do with each particular setting.
Beyond setting hanges, the tool is intended to troubleshoot actual problmes with cars.
Something that an average Lexus owner is highly likely to outsouce to the service center.
