Default Need owners opinion

I am on the waiting list for a 2023 RX 350h and have currently a 2017 RX450h which I love. My local Lexus dealer has four used RZ's which one is the perfect color combo. The low range does not matter to me. If a trip would take my wife's NX350H getting 40mpg. How do you like yours? Likes dislikes etc.
Thanks

I think the Lexus RZ is a great vehicle. One factor to consider is that the shade feature on the RZ's panoramic roof is only available on Luxury models. I think if you get a Premium model without the shade, the car will get way too hot.

About the missing sun shade, I found that I could cut some thin stiff cardboard and slide it in place under the headliner. This works perfectly! It is less hot and much darker inside. There is theoretically a sunshade available as a Lexus option from their parts department, but my local dealer is unable to get it at the moment. Also, it is $ 400+ !! I'll probably just stick with my cardboard.

Our RZ450e is my wife's car. She loves it. She just filled out a Lexus questionnaire about likes/dislikes. We also don't care about the range issues as we use it as a local commuter car. Also, we charge it at home on a ChargePoint 220 and have never charged it at a public charging station. Here is what she said.

Likes: Comfort, Speed, Styling, Visibility, Adaptive Cruise/Lane tracing, Apple Carplay, Remote start with the app

Dislikes: Missing Sunshade (ha!), Missing Glovebox, Flimsy Chargeport door, Extreme sensitivity to hand position when using cruise control

Thumbs up Loving my RZ

I have to weigh and agree with most that the new RZ is one of the best cars I've ever driven. It is solid and FAST! Here in Washington state, they are hard to come by, but I was fortunate enough to be on a list and jumped at the chance to get one. I have never leased a car becuase I tend to keep my cars, but in this case, Lexus offered a $10,000 discount to entice customers... somehwat of an offset for not being able to get the federal tax credit at this time. AND, I liked the idea of hedging my bet on the range with the lease. If what I read is true, we should see a "solid state" battery in that time period (Lexus is a leader in developing this technology), and I won't be stuck with a car that may be obsolete in a few years (from a range perspective.)
It drives and handles like a hot knife through butter, and the technology is the best. Highly recommend... for leasing.

I decided to buy. I have a garage and a level 2 charger to use during off-peak hours for electricity. It is currently 6 cents per kilowatt hour. We have other gasoline operated vehicles to haul stuff (pickup) and for rare road trips (LX), so the RZ slots into a niche for us as a very comfortable town car. The range is not a concern, and we keep vehicles for ten years or longer, I can’t imagine the batteries failing in that time as it will never see a level 3 charger, and likely never be driven more than 2,500 miles a year. Trade in or resale value will likely suck at ten years, but most other ten year old car values do as well.

The quietness, the traffic jam mode, and comfort are all outstanding. I am considering buying the panoramic roof screen when it is available, just to give it a try. The opaque mode is interesting, but my head still gets hot driving it in the sun.

Please let me know your experiences if you buy the panoramic roof screen.
I might consider replacing my cardboard screens with something more professional

Due to the 4" high battery pack, have you guys noticed rear seat base is too low, and the feet and knees lift up?
Either they raise both the rear seat base and the roofline.
Alternatively, they may consider the Porsche Mission E design where there are no battery cells in the rear footwear area - however, the battery cells under the rear seat base can be double layered to compensate - this is more conventional and perhaps the better design.

The high rear seat base in the RX is far more comfortable, though the RX is too tall for my liking.
