Default 2013 rx SMS text response error message

My 2013 rx350 reads, displays and plays my text messages and email. When I go to respond through the screen with any of the pre-written responses I always seem to get an error message that the message cant be sent. What am I doing wrong????

Thanks in advance.

You're not doing anything wrong, if you're using an iPhone. Replies to text messages has yet to be incorporated into Apple's iOS software. As reported elsewhere, the ability to reply to text messages will be enabled in the next update to the iOS software, which will be version 6.1 (currently at 6.0.1). That release is not expected for at least another few weeks.

Thanks. Didn't know that. Using an IPhone 4 and a Blackberry. Both receive text messages. Blackberry also receives email. iPhone does not. Will dealer have to update software? Or is it user capable?

Sorry. I misread. I see now you said the apple software needs the update!

Hi,
I have a iPhone 4S and I'm still on iOS5. I haven't upgraded yet due to the issues with Apple Maps. Now that a Google Maps app can be downloaded, I may upgrade to iOS6.

So is it true that I need iOS6 in order to receive SMS/text messages on my RX?
thanks,
Steve

Yes, you need iOS 6.0.1 to receive text messages. The "pre-written" reply function on the RX won't work yet, but that capability is coming in the next update to iOS.

Wow, I did not even realize that the RX350 could display and reply to text messages. I thought I had researched everything about this car. This has me more excited about buying an RX! And by the time I purchase, the new iOS update should be out. This forum teaches me something new every day...

I installed 6.0.1 yesterday on my iPhone 4S. How do I send and receive texts via the RX.

The feature is not in iOS 6.0.1. Perhaps we will see it in 6.1. For now, you just pull over and park, send your text and read any replies. then get back to driving.

Like the AT&T ad campaign says: "It can Wait".

A friend of mine has some Hyundai SUV with a Droid phone and he can do this already. Should I be envious? Not really. I like my RX better. I also like the iPhone but they need to add features faster.
I guess I'll wait for Apple.

I just got the iOS 6.0.2 update notice today and updated. Is the feature supposed to work with this update?

The feature should be available in iOS 6.1, which is supposedly going to be out soon.
