Default Compass

Is there a special trick to turn on the compass of my 2011 RX350? I have pushed on the "auto' button on the rear view mirror with no success.

The Compass was removed for 2011. My IS350 had one.

Compass is removed when you add the navi option.
Lexus started on all 2011's.

In my opinion, that's not an "improvement". In the 2010 RX 350, I just glance at my rearview mirror, and the compass heading is always there.

In a 2011, I would have to bring up the navigation system "map" mode, and do some mental gymnastics to figure out what my current heading is (my map is set to show direction of travel at the top of the screen, rather than always showing "North" at the top.)

If the nav is there, don't see any reason to have 2 compasses.

In that case, I'd rather they had dropped the compass out of the nav, then.

My "nav screen" is normally displaying the audio information, not the map. It's way easier to glance up at the rearview mirror than to switch the nav screen to map mode.

I never look at the compass on the Nav System. What's the point. If you're lost or don't know where you're going, the nav system will get you out. If you know where you're going, then why would you need to know which direction is north?

I have a 2011 tungsten pearl RX 350 with no Nav.
And I have the compass on the right side of the rear view mirror

Thanks to all for your responses! I have noticed that Lexus human engineering is poor!
