i just got my grom unit and installed just like they said and i even went the extra mile to take pictures to post them here for the DYI and guess what...........after 4 hours of trying to get it to work i did not...

the damn thing doesn't switch to cd and sometimes plays both the ipod and fm station!!!
im soooo fustrated

ps. i tried the procedure that says to press "cd button and then wait 2 sec. then press am/fm button"

Is it an RF modulator-based kit or does it plug into the CD changer socket?

Have you tried it with the Ipod hold button Off and with it On (change the hold button setting before you connect the ipod)?

Have you contacted GROM, this is a known problem with the RX 300 stereo?

Some vehicles work some not, it is not dependent on either year or the type of head unit.

A couple of months ago GROM was trying to recruit someone in the San Francisco Bay area with an RX to act as a guinea pig.

It's one reason I haven't purchased one yet, even though I have had good results with two of them in our Audis.

From what I've read over the years, NAV or non-NAV RX300 makes a difference (non-NAV the tough one).

 

grom sent me another unit and to my surprise the same thing happened...i din't work
im so upset with them because they dont have a tech where you can call.
they want you to text them your issues.

i'm very dissapointed

A friend of mine bought one of GROM USB adapters for his RX300 2000 in June this year and it works like a charm so far. He does not have NAV. Do you have NAV?
I am thinking about getting one for myself, just need to save some money.

I got so fustrated that i still have a migrane headache from trying to get that thing to work.
