Digital Key questions
I recall the old key needs to be removed from the Nav display setting first and then reinstall the key on the Phone.
Page 65 of the multimedia manual explains this to some extent. Just go into the interface, remove existing digital key. Then try to reinstall on phone, the phone will sync with the cloud, the cloud will sync with the car and update the key. Make sure the car has cell signal in your garage or is parked outside during this process.
Context: I just finished installing a Chamberlain MyQ (B4505T) garage door opener this morning.
When I got in and tried to start our RX 350 with my iPhone-based digital key, I went around in circles - press brake / start with no result. So I retrieved our only key fob, and tried again. Still would not start. So then I placed my phone far away, and tried again, and failed. Then I unplugged the garage door opener, and was finally able to start the car with the key fob.
Everything seems fine now, but it was really weird sitting in the car with no idea how to start it :-(

That is weird. I have MyQ for years. I have the 2024 Rx450h+ for 7 months. I never had issue with the fob. However, I decided to install Digital Key on the iPhone Lexus Apps. It was successful on day one. I drove around with no fob. The next day, I went in and the Digital Key was not recognised. When I was driving with the fob when the Digital Key was working, the dash display intermittently said new key was detected and to contact dealers. No idea what is happening.

I must agree the Digital Key is not worth the frustration. It took me many try to download and finally, it was connected. Some day I could walk in the car with my phone in the pocket. Sometimes it says key not detected and I had to open the Lexus Apps. After I parked, I touched the door handle and it does not lock the car. Again, I had to open the Apps to lock the car. Back to the fob.
But like I said, I had times with Apps not open and car still starts. I started carrying my fob wrapped in aluminium foil to try out the digital key. If the key continues to be unreliable, I eventually will ditch it.
If you in fact have the app completely shut down and it still had worked at times, well you would be the first.

Do you mean logged out by calling it shut down. I did not log out but it went into the background. It is seen by the car as a key some time. But then when the car is started by the Digital Key and when I got out of the car without changing anything on my phone, touching the handle did not lock the car. I don't know how to explain that.
Here is my experience with digital key.
There is a setting in app to require authentication after: Options are from Immediately to 12 hours. If I set it to 1 hour, then the digital key will work within this 1 hour with the app in the background. After that I have to authenticate in the app again.
Keep me signed in
Three is also a customize Key range setting. I had to increase that for it to detect the key when I was inside the car.
With that being said, I still have to occasionally reboot my phone for digital key module to load.
I would say Toyota still has lots of work left in getting digital key to a reliable key replacement. Perhaps look at how Tesla is doing this would help them.

- Tap "Person" icon in top right
- Tap "Account" button
- Tap "Security Settings"
- Change "Require Authentication" and "Keep Me Signed In"
- Go back to main screen
- Pull control pane up to expose all vehicle controls
- Tap "Manage and Share" under Digital Key
- Tap "Customize Key Range" (You must be within range of the vehicle -- I recommend being inside it)
Foil not needed. Press and hold the lock button and press the unlock twice and it puts the fob to sleep. We do this all the time to save the battery and let my wife leave her purse in the car with her key in it.
Now I have my Digital Key set up on the Lexus Apps, I have another problem. While I was in the App signed in, the App got kicked out and I am back to the Home screen. This happened multiple times lately. Anyone has the same issue? I am using iPhone latest iOS.
