350 Luxury Cruise Control
Has anyone taken delivery of a 350 luxury model with HUD and had the opportunity to use cruise control yet? I am a serial cruise control operator. One of the pre production you tube videos I saw mentioned that it was rather cumbersome to resume your set speed after braking. It almost appeared that instead of just hitting a resume button, you had to hit a mode button, and then a resume button. If so, seems like a bit of worrisome hunting at pecking at 75 mph. I’ve read the owner’s manual and still can’t tell exactly what the process is or how difficult it is at high speeds.
For anyone that has had the luck to take delivery of one with HUD, is the process as cumbersome as I imagine, or is it fairly seemless?

The up arrow on the right hand wheel switch is the resume switch (if cruise is in cancelled mode due to braking), and it is the + switch to increase speed if already engaged. Mine isnt here yet, but I have been reading the online manuals... Mine should be here this week!
You must have seen the same video review we all did - you have to press twice with the HUD, once to "wake up" the HUD button pad functions (where the resume is located) and present them on the screen, and a second time to engage the function. Not good. I am waiting for a luxury trim also, but would delete the HUD if I could, but we can't. Getting a custom order premium+ with every option except the HUD, isn't really in the cards right now since they aren't taking custom orders.

Thanks for re-posting the video. I use cruise on a daily basis. Really looks like a major pain and frankly a bit dangerous when you are at highway speeds. Don’t know that this would cause me to torpedo my purchase, but will certainly take a deeper dive into the cruise function that I normally would during the test drive of a vehicle.
Hoping some folks with real life experience will chime in and it’s not as finicky as it appears.

We just took delivery on a 2023 RX 350 luxury and while we haven’t used a ton of cruise control yet (dealership said to wait until you hit ~1K miles), it is not as bad as many reviews have made it out to be. The touch controls on the steering wheel are different but IMO very easy to get used to. The HUD is very large and crystal clear so easy to see, however you can disable it if needed (you have 3 options with it - full hud that displays all info, standard hud that is more minimal, and then just off entirely if it’s not your thing). Hope this helps!

Thanks again.
I picked up my RX yesterday. With HUD. The HUD is easy to read, and takes only a couple of uses to get used to it. As for cruise control, a discreet button turns it on and sets the current speed with one press. After that, if the system stops itself, at a traffic light for example, a simple tap on the accelerator resumes current setting. If you stop or cancel it with your brake, you simply touch the pad on the right for a moment to wake the screen, and press ^ for resume one time. Simple, and intuitive once you get used to it. No worries here at all.

A few other thoughts about the vehicle. Love most things about it so far, particularly the gas mileage. According to the onboard computer, I got 36 mpg on my 200 mile drive home. Will check actual to computer with next tank of gas.
Really the only things I dislike are those that many of the YouTube reviewers have commented on.
-The cruise control function as noted above, but that has already become second nature to me and is no longer worrisome.
-The gear shift. I’ve had an Audi Q7 and have a Buick Enclave that also had funky gear shifts. I never got used to them and still struggle to put the Enclave in neutral when going through drive through car washes. I’m hoping this will be easier to get used to in the RX, but you have to wonder why Lexus thought this would be an improvement.
-The electronic door opener. I keep trying to open the door too quickly and having to revert to the manual opening. As with the gear shifter, what was wrong with the old way and why would this be considered an improvement? I think I’ll get used to this, but why?
I had a 2022 NX with the same infotainment system and recall that there was a car wash mode on that one.
I haven’t played with my new RX one yet to find exactly where it is.
I haven’t been through a car wash yet or frankly tried to put it in neutral. I am hoping the RX is easier to put into neutral. Don’t think there is any trick but not sure yet. My Enclave is not terribly intuitive to get into neutral. I still struggle with it after a year and a half.
