you’re welcome. I am also in Southern California. I went to my local America’s Tire today to add their certificate/warranty to the tires on my 2023 RX. (Less than $200 to warranty the 4 tires against road hazards - free replacement - and includes free balancing and rotation for the life of the tires). They don’t have any tires in their system this size but they told me they will now that Lexus is using this size. They’re still offering their certificate/warranty on them but they need to have the tire added to their system first. He said by Monday it should be done.

My 21” wheels came with Bridgestone Alenza All Season tires.

That's a lot of money to pay - your thoughts? I like the look of the 21" but are they louder than the 19" Is it only the size of the rims that change, or do both rims have different tire sizes too?

Has anyone had any luck with the dealer swapping tires and rims out? If so, what did they charges since they are keeping the original 19s with no miles on them?

Thanks
There are some, like me, who prefer the 19" wheels for their better ride and broader replacement tire attributes. Try posting on the For Sale/Trade or Market Place part of this forum for someone with a new RX that has 21" wheels and wants 19s. You could simply swap wheels and tires for an even trade. Should be no technical problems with doing that except TPMS sensors may need to be reprogramed.

That seems like ordering steak to get the baked potato and trading it for a hamburger because you don’t want the French Fries that come with hamburger.

Did you happen to get a quote from the dealer on the full wheel and tire insurance package?

I had the same thought about getting the tire and wheel insurance since i have 21 in rims. The dealership I purchased my RX350h from was offering it at $1900 and I got them down to $1200 for 6 years. It also includes paint less dent repair and key replacement.

they wanted $900 and that was after a lot of negotiations. I’ve had the same package before and it was incredibly difficult to get claims approved through the third party vendor so I skipped it.

Lexus apparently went with unusual tire sizes on the new RX. Tire Rack is showing only one tire available for the 21 inch size used, and zero tires available for the 19 inch size used. By comparison, on the 18 inch size used on my 2022 NX, there are 121 different tires available.

I hope nobody with the 19 inch tires gets a flat that is not repairable. They may have difficulty getting a replacement in the same size.

I would assume that since the RX is a high volume vehicle, the tire makers will ramp up their popular tires in the new sizes to compete. I had good luck with Pirellis and Goodyear Assurance MaxLife tires on my old 2017 and 2020 RXs.

Both of these were Premium+ packages that had the 21” wheel option, it was the one thing we wished they didn’t have but not a deal breaker. Most new vehicles we have had come with pretty lousy tires so I decided to research a replacement set.

The 21” wheels come wrapped in 235/50r21 tires which has almost no options even made let alone a good set of all seasons. Does anyone know if you can run 245/45r21 tires in their place? That opens up several better options.

i would trade with you in a heart beat if you were near me. I'm still waiting for my premium to come in.

Although this is an older post, someone, just above, replied. So I'll add my .02. I agree that most new cars some with lousy tires that are designed to sell cars and be cheap to the auto makers. That being said, I've also found that there's no market to swap new original equipment tires for something else. My dad used to do this for Michelin's on all his new cars and got a decent trade if driven from the new car delivery direct to the tire shop. But those days are over. So I generally run the factory tires for 12-18 months THEN buy what I want. They are generally good enough for the new car period effectively free, since the alternative is to scrap them or Craigslist them for nearly nothing. And in the case of these new sizes, no one is buying used OEM tires for brand new $60,000 Lexi. The good news is that by the time 18 months arrives, there should be more options.

Up in Canada tire shops will "buy" the tires from you. First thing I am going to do when our 350 arrives is dumping the OEMs for Nokian All Weather tires. No need for a second set of winter tires.

I've had no issue w swapping Bridgestone tires for Michelins by the Dealership. I let them know up front that i will not take ownership of vehicle unless it has Michelins. Soon to purchase new RX350 Luxury for the wife n will make same request. Lexus in the past has always used both Brands mentioned n if the one that may be assigned to us, they just take care of. No issues...swap on another vehicle that comes in I guess. I don't ask that part. Same w drilling holes on the front grill for License plate... big no go for me. Basically deal breaker for me. Even though I live in TX it's never ever been an issue w being pulled over. Never have had lic plate on her 2013 RX350 and for sure don't have one on my 2020 ES350 FSPORT . ASK n you shall Receive!
