Hello, My wife has been on a waiting list for a new RX. Friday night she gets an email that one has arrived at the dealer and another is on the way that is almost exactly what she is looking for. We ended up putting a deposit on the incoming RX.

Both of these were Premium+ packages that had the 21” wheel option, it was the one thing we wished they didn’t have but not a deal breaker. Most new vehicles we have had come with pretty lousy tires so I decided to research a replacement set.

The 21” wheels come wrapped in 235/50r21 tires which has almost no options even made let alone a good set of all seasons. Does anyone know if you can run 245/45r21 tires in their place? That opens up several better options.

is a site I use. I don’t have all the info needed otherwise I’d have given you an answer.
second option is to either call the dealer and ask or call tire rack since I presume you’d check there for pricing too

im sure someone will chime in soon.

what tires does it come with and what do you want to place instead ?

Thanks for the response. It comes with Goodyear Eagle Touring tires which from what reviews say are questionable in rain, not good at all in winter conditions, and wear out in around 26,000 miles. We intend to use them as long as they can get us through this winter but I certainly don’t want to pay 1200 dollars for the same ones at that point.

I was considering Michelin Cross Climate 2s in 245/45/r21.

The Michelins are a great pick by the way.
I tried searching for rim specs but the car is so new really besides finding a part number I can’t imagine finding it without calling the dealer.
even tire rack didn’t have options for the standard size you listed .
wait till tomorrow (if no one responds here) and ask the service advisor at the dealership.

True about the narrow tire choices, you wonder if Lexus considered that when choosing this size. But the Bridgestone Allenza in this size (the only one on tire rack) is an all season tire.

Does the new RX have run flats and no spare like the 2nd gen NX?

Interesting. Thanks! I couldn’t find information about the tires online.

Another option is to buy a tire and wheel package from Tire rack other source. That way you can get the exact wheel and tire size you want. I plan to do this if I have to take 21" wheels to get all the options I want.

My Lexus salesperson told me 19" may help with noise and smoother ride quality. I guess to each their own.

350h Ordered with 19" Wheels but Want 21" - Can Dealer Swap?
I ordered a 23 350h Premium+ which came with almost everything I wanted, except 21 in rims. If I had the car built, the upgrade charge is only $1,600 - way less than I could buy a set of factory rims and tires for aftermarket, but the dealer said I can't change the rims from 19 to 21 inch and would have to buy them aftermarket. That's a lot of money to pay - your thoughts? I like the look of the 21" but are they louder than the 19" Is it only the size of the rims that change, or do both rims have different tire sizes too?

Has anyone had any luck with the dealer swapping tires and rims out? If so, what did they charges since they are keeping the original 19s with no miles on them?

Thanks

I haven’t noticed my 21 inch wheels being loud at all. This car is just soooo quiet. I love it!!

good luck on the wheel swap - the 21s are much more appealing to the eye in my opinion.

Thanks @SaraLvsLxs - and your comment about them being much more appealing is why Im looking into this - its just sooo expensive to do this aftermarket...I just wish the build that they are making had them - but here in Los Angeles we only have access to whats being ordered..

You will get better mpg with the 19s and probably a more comfortable ride.
