Default I need your help

Hello. What is the metal piece of the car (circled on the picture) called? Where can I find the color code for that piece? I got into a rear-end car accident and the metal part is currently scratched. Thank you.

Unfortunately the other driver was uninsured.

Then it’s a good thing it’s only a scratch. Will touch up paint not be sufficient?

There are several dime sized scratches. It is a brand new car which I purchased 2 months ago. Pretty upsetting situation.

Being that there isn't any other silver adjacent to the scuffed area, I would think that even a slight mismatch wouldn't be noticeable if you get the whole piece re-done.

Different story if you are only touching up the dime-sized blemishes yourself.
I know that NAPA stores can custom-mix paint and they have sample cards for comparison that allow you to get a really close match.

OTOH, have you considered a complementary color to make your RX unique?

In Florida, uninsured motorist coverage is usually the most expensive coverage on your policy. 20.6% of drivers here are uninsured. When they get caught, they suspend their license and registration, so people drive unlicensed, unregistered, AND uninsured. It's just stupid here.

It's no different in PA. I had the "fortune" of having one bump into me at a red light, as she was looking for he phone (her words.)
She didn't even blink to tell me and the cop that she had no insurance. The only talk she got from the cop was about her registration being expired.
It's a circus out there...

In Texas, you can’t get, or renew, your car registration, or get the annual inspection, without proof of insurance.

Granted, car registration is no longer required as of this year.

But in a traffic stop or accident, an uninsured motorist gets a citation, not a free pass.

You misspoke, inspections are no longer required. Registration is still required. People do their registration then cancel the insurance. They also never register. Finally they just rock temp plates forever in large cities, I’m not sure how the recent change to metal temp plates has changed that though.
