Part of that reads :
Can I remote start my vehicle using my key fob?

Yes, you can start your vehicle by using your key fob as long as the following conditions* are met:
  • Vehicle is compatible with Lexus Remote services
  • Active trial or paid subscription to Safety Connect, Remote, or Destination Assist
  • Your Lexus is in an area with proper ventilation prior to Remote Start
  • Vehicle is not occupied by a child
  • The vehicle is locked, in Park, and all doors, trunk, hood, and moonroof closed
  • Vehicle is visible and within 80-foot range
  • Fuel level is above ¼ tank
Whether from the fob or app, it all goes through the DCM, so it can check your subscription status before executing the command.
It ticks me off that we obviously paid for the equipment in our cars that allows the remote start function, but they want us to pay to use it. Same with all other subscription services.

You do not need a paid subscription to use remote start from the keyfob.

I don't believe that's true.

@NexVision is kinda right in that he says you don't need a paid subscription - at least for 10 years anyway. Near as I can tell from the different pieces I've gathered online from reasonable sources, this is the deal:
  • If you opted out of connected services because of privacy concerns, it will NOT work
  • Will definitely work during the Remote Connect trial period
  • Once Remote Connect expires, it should still work for as long as your Safety Connect trial is active (10 years for newer vehicles) if you choose not to renew remote connect.
Hope this helps.

Ok I stand corrected I was wrong. Just tested on 21 RX and works fine from FOB with no service. Called my Lexus tech to ask about it he said the 21 has a 12volt starter add-on installed on it (vehicle was not bought new) which is why it works without any subscription and any new one would require an active DCM he said there are ways he has seen to activate them without a subscription however none off the top of his head.

So are you saying that after the initial 3 year trials for all of the connected services expire and you don't renew any of them the remote start via the key fob will continue to work for the next 7 years and then stop after that?

That's what I've gathered. I can't confirm from personal experience since I've only had my 2025 RX for a bit over 2 months, but that seems to be the consensus. And it works because the Safety Connect trial is 10 years.

Ok if true that would be a good thing.

Key to the 10 year trial period is that the Lexus App needs to be registered with Lexus. If you bought is new and set up the App for the
three-year trial of Enform Remote, then the 10-year free trial of Safety Connect is going to enable the fob press feature.
Those that buy a used Lexus need only 1) Download the Lexus App to a phone. 2) Register the Lexus App with your
name, mobile number, e-mail. (You do Not need to buy or pay anything). Wait an hour or so and... 3) get in the running
car and press the overhead "SOS" button. The automated voice will ask if you need a) Roadside Assistance - No, or
b) enable Remote Services - Yes. "Thank you, your Remote Services are active, Good Bye"

You may optionally tap the "Shop" tab in the Lexus App and Manage Subscriptions to add the various App features.
Remote Start from the phone, Lock/Unlock, Status of everything, recalls or campaigns, call dealer, schedule service
Find the car (works great at the mall!). Pay for Enform Remote and Safety Connect @ $80/year for $160/year. Do not
subscribe to Dynamic Navigation or Destination Assist, also $80 each because you can use Apple Car Play/Android Auto
for maps for free

Would this work to reconnect the App to my phone?

6 months ago, we had to reinstall our Lexus app...and while the car recognizes us when we start the car, I cannot use the app to start the car etc.
Dealer said "The app doesn't work well" and declined to try and resolve the issue.

Wife's phone app still works fine.

You must use the same log in and password as your wife to get the remote start and all services and alerts on both phones.
