Not 100% of the time, about 75% the app does not work and says "Remote Command Failed", I cannot figure it out. I have tried hitting the "lock" 1st, then start. Any ideas?

Is the car in a parking garage, maybe? Even in the individual garage attached to/under a house, the signal may occasionally be obstructed from a clear satellite view required for communication between the vehicle and the phone. Just a thought.

Also, if the car is at the owner's house or in the owner's garage - if the owner's other keyfob is within signal distance the remote start command (either sent from the app or dent from the in-hand keyfob) is likely to fail [D1] - because it thinks the other keyfob is inside the car.
I also get the "remote command failed" but then I get a notification the car has started and will turn off in 10 minutes! I checked and it indeed started and is counting down.
I will occasionally see this, often, it means that the vehicle's cellular connection is having issues being reached. This could be due to a multitude of issues, parking garages, mountains, bad weather, etc. I usually just try again and more often than not, it goes thru fine. Your milage may vary.
