Default Lexus OEM Multimedia Screen Protector

I just noticed Lexus has a multimedia screen protector as a $100 build option.

Anyone have one of these? How do they compare to the cheaper ones on Amazon?

I'd be surprised if this wasn't just something you can already buy without the Lexus branding. If it is different and better, it will be available off Ali Baba for next to nothing before long. Two and a half years on ours and not a mark on the screen anyway.

I found a Reddit post by someone who claims the material is thicker, polarized glasses are not an issue, and overall quality and fitment is better compared to most aftermarkets. Looking for more people with experience with the product rather than speculation.

From Reddit poster
"Pulled the trigger and got the OEM screen Protector. It’s a nice quality, clear transparent but not too reflective which is great. Glass/plasttic material seems a little heavier than the Amazon ones which probably means it’s more durable. Images remain crystal clear. Best part is I can use them with my polarized sunglasses without any issues. Tried another Amazon brand Weipin https://a.co/d/0USk89J but didn’t work with my polarized sun glasses, and didn’t want to get the Spigen because of the frosted finish."

Whatever...at least I posted the link you should have. Last June's thread on scratches never had anyone post they had even scratched their screen.

I've had
this one this one

I'm not sure if you're talking about the infotainment screen the Big 14 in screen. When I had my paint protection film placed on the bumpers and the mirrors and the headlights etc I had them do the screen. It was $70. The best $70 I've ever spent. There's absolutely no glare fingerprints are reduced probably 90% and of course you do have the screen protection but that's the least of my worries

Dumb question but I've never had one of these - how does the OEM screen protector adhere to the screen and is there any problem when it's removed?

Again I will ask, does any one have experience with their 5th Gen GX/2nd Gen NX touchscreen getting scratched? If so, how did it get scratched and please post a pic.

I asked this in another thread in the RX section and the NX area as well without getting a response from anyone that has scratched their screen. If there was a legitimate risk I will research and buy a protector but I believe it is made out of glass so just keep your diamonds away from it.

Yeah, we just use eyeglass cleaner on our screen. NO PRESSURE...just wipe. No scratches.

Now if you are considering an anti-glare 'protector'...how well do these work? Anybody? (said the blinded owner who has to drive into the sunset every evening).

I can't see how a screen could possibly get scratched. It's not like it could drop on a hard floor like your phone. I think they are just mainly for glare and fingerprint reduction.

I looked at my screen this morning and it looks like it already has a screen protector on it! Wasn’t going to try and peel it off to confirm either. The 25 is mine so I’m just not gonna worry about it. Cannot see a situation where I might scratch it up.

What you are seeing is likely the clear protective film the factory applies before shipping. I would take it off as I did with mine as it's not optically very good and not really meant to be. The screen will look much better with it removed.

That's specifically why I got the Spigen anti-glare one -- not because I'm worried about scratching the screen (that really doesn't seem likely to me), but because of sun glare off the stock screen, plus fingerprints.

https://a.co/d/byTSa2t The Spigen is slightly more frosted than I'd like, but it does a great job of lowering a blinding direct sun reflection to a bright ambient blur that I can still (if I squint) see the display through. It also hides fingerprints pretty effectively.

I had ordered generic one from Amazon (Weipin) during Prime day. It was $11 reg low 20's. I hadn't installed it, when I saw the post of the EOM version. I do wear polarized lens so I would rather spend extra and only have to apply something once. I found it online line for $89.00 with free shipping if you get to $100. I'll post how I like it once I get it installed. Amazon gave me credit for the Weipen product and they don't even want it back.

Yes, please do. If it has decent anti-glare properties, and not just a good oleophobic coating, I may replace my frosty Spigen with it. The Spigen is better than nothing for me, but I dislike that its frostiness somewhat dulls the display.
