I tried numerous times and $9 CAD/mo was the best they would do. They actually said it was OK if they lost me as a customer. Reception is horrible in the Lexus so no real loss.

that's not much more than $5usd but I'm surprised they were ready to let you go.
Doesn't it depend on which Plan you subscribe to. I have their Plan with the most channels, so I know they won't do that one for $4/5 per month. The funny thing is that I almost never listen to anything but Channels 80 (ESPN) and 90 (NASCAR). I need a 2-channel plan.

Absolutely depends on plan. I have basis plan plus I am paying for only the streaming app. I listen exclusively on Android Auto so no point to pay more for a plan that adds to your vehicle radio.
I have the "Music and Entertainment Plan" which I believe covers all of the radio stations or certainly more than I will ever listen to. I don't use AA for anything music related.
Just squaring the cricle here folks; SiriusXM said they did not want me as a subscriber but I just got a 12 month offer for $5.99/month CAD (~$4.50/month USD) for the full channel line up! Maybe... but the reception still bites on the Lexus.
We have Sirius on all 4 of our auto radios, including the RX. The sound 'blanks out' in the same places on all the cars...so it's a Sirius thing not a radio issue.
It is most definitely a SiriusXM thing in our case. A large semi pulls alongside and POOF - no reception. Dealer says nothing can be done, it is the way the system/antenna works. Needs clear sky and all that. Plus any rides in the moutains and there are more dropouts than in the Senate. I used to have a portable XM car player with the external puck antenna and that thing never lost connection to the sats. So yeah, it is the car, not SiriusXM.

It may not be completely the car. Years back (since you reference portable players, as I had one also), XM had a number of terrestrial repeaters that would supplement the satellite networks. They were mostly in large metro cities with big buildings and also in the northern cities (like Seattle and BC, Canada), as the XM satellites are located over the equator so it's harder to get reception past hills and other obstables the further north you go. Those repeaters have been turned off and since the SiriusXM services have shifted towards the XM satellites/locations (with only a couple older Sirius only birds left), XM/SiriusXM reception has been much tougher in the past 10 years or so. Support says you can rely on the mobile app if you have issues (not a real alternative but it's what they say).

You make some good points, but SiriusXM saying that the app is reliable is to laugh! Cell coverage in the mountains up here is worse than sat! Why do they think I carry a satcom device for backcountry skiing?
You got mail - from SiriusXM. Their latest offer to restart service to the Lexus just arrived. Two years at $5 CAD/$3.60 USD for 24 months! Maybe they do wnt my business after all!
