Hi every body,

in the last car I had, a 3 series BMW, when I pressed the volume on the steer to wake up Siri, automatically the multimedia system lowered the volume so I didn’t have to scream to let me understand. The same when I received some wahtsapp and I asked to Siri to read them: the multimedia system lowered the volume automatically, to give me the possibility to hear Siri reading the messages.
im trying to make the same exact thing on my brand new Lexus Rx 450h + but….it seems impossibile. The multimedia doesn’t lower the volume automatically and it’s very annoying. I’m I losing something or…it’s just Lexus that didn’t implemented this functionality?

Have you tried adjusting the Carplay volume while it is 'talking'?

OR adjusting the RX volume while Carplay is talking.

Yes it works but…I mean I’ve to do it manually. I was wondering if, like in the bmw ,the Lexus could be able to lower the volume automatically when I activate Siri to give a vocal command.

 

It should, if it does not, it is more a software bug or limitation. Some folks say it works others say no. Might depend on iPhone version, car SW version, CarPlay version, etc. I have not used Siri in a while in the car, but I believe mine mutes other audio while using Siri. I need to check again.

 

I think it's a CarPlay bug. If I'm listening to a podcast and I ask Siri to do something or to read a Message, the audio pauses. But if I'm listening to the Music app in CarPlay, the music does not pause or lower in volume.

I'm curious to see if this is something Apple fixes in iOS 26.
