In AA, when you exit to LEXUS and want to go back to AA, just tap the AA button on top left. Cara play no different in that respect from what I've seen.

Yes, but to get to any car menu you need to go though few clicks while looking at the screen with attention away from the road, which is unnecessary.

Apple and Toyota fixed that in CarPlay. It's time Google implements the same feature that Apple and Toyota implemented during last infotainment update.

yep touchscreen in general is a distraction. I much prefer the TouchPad in my ES which I can navigate with eyes still on the road.

touchscreen in general is a distraction.
In the 1930s, having a radio in a car was considered a distraction! There was even a movement to have radios BANNED.

The first few months of RX ownership, both my wife and the car complained about the driver (me!) messing with the center screen. Nowadays, everything is set up the way we like, so that is no longer a factor.

I found the article I read that told the history of car radios being outlawed in some states, because of the distraction.
Interesting if you have a few minutes.

In CarPlay the cars menus are always available on the left and you can switch back and forth with only one click.

See the attached pictures for CarPlay and Android Auto
Gotcha, I see what you're saying.

I see the difference now after driving with my wife's iPhone connected. The Lexus menu stays open on the left side while Carplay is running. That's not the case with AA.

I just watch the LX 700h review in the reviewer was showing AA on the screen but you can still see the Lexus' icons on the side of it. Maybe they can do it OTA update?

Starts at 1:30 in the vid and you can see in the background when he's showing the pricing on a piece of paper.

pretty sure that's Carplay and not AA. Exactly how our 24 RXh displays it with my wife's iPhone connected. Top left icon in native Lexus system, you can see the Carplay arrow as opposed to the AA icon for Android Auto.

As @mikemu30 said, This is Apple Carplay. The menus have been on CarPlay since last update. Still waiting for the update to include them on Android Auto

Default Android Auto Exit Buttom

I'm not sure when they updated this because I just noticed it today but they added an down arrow, when you're inside AA and it will exit back to the Lexus infotainment screen. Heres the video I made.

Nice! Better than before for sure. Wish they allowed to keep cars menues on the left in addition to Android Auto, same as CarPlay.

Hopefully next update.
There's hope!

FWIW, Android Auto has been rolling out alot of updates last month, with more continuing this month. Many changes are on the way including AI.
