Hey all, picking up my first Lexus on Friday. Its the 2025 RX350 Premium Plus AWD with Conveinance and Technology Package. I see that it has the digital key feature and I am wondering if this is the same as the one offered by Apple which syncs to Apple Wallet or this purely stand alone VIA the lexus app only?
The Lexus implementation has been wholly unreliable, for me. It works very infrequently -- far less than 5% of the time. I just pretend the PAAK feature doesn't exist. And for practical purposes, it doesn't.
ROFL Been to the dealer several times. They don't even try to set it up anymore. Their "tech specialist" rolls their eyes and says the digital key doesn't work and there is no point in trying.
The biggest issue, is that you need to launch app for it to work. It stinks you can't just keep the phone in your pocket to use as key. By time you open the app and then hold it close it takes longer then just key fob.
It is good if you lose your keys or you need to get the car from someone and don't have a key otherwise is useless. Kinda like advance park another useless item
I am a believer of technology but I must say I had it with the Lexus App and Digital Key. I had the App set as "always signed on" on my iPhone. The car, 2024 Rx450h+ intermittently not sensing I have the Digital Key. But once I bring out the App which was hidden in the background, it will take 5-10 seconds for the car to sense it. After I stopped and parked. I exit and try to lock the door by touching the handle, it won't respond until I bring out the phone and open the App again. The reverse is true when I try to unlock the car by touch the handle, same scenario.
Another bothering even was I drove the car, stopped and push Park button without pushing the Power button to let passenger off. When I put the car to drive, I got beeping and display said Car Key not detected. It goes away until I open the App again
There is a good reason why Toyoto/Lexus called the App Beta. I would say it should be called Alpha since Beta is a test of "working" product. This one outright does not work and they want to sell it by subscription after 3 years?
100% agree, and I can say I had this app when first launched in 2010 and still they can't get it right. Again only benefit is those one off cases, or if you forget to lock the car etc...
