Default 2024 Key Fob security Features proven TRUE!

Sense, like most of you I only got one Key Fob for my 2024 RX350 AWD I was worried about theft due to "Relay Theft". My neighbors car was stolen due to this by two guys. So after some looking I have found out that for 2024 Lexus has changed some things on the Key Fob.
1. If the Fob sits still (No movement) for 4 min it will lock up and not unlock the doors. I proved this by setting the fob on top of the exterior drivers side rear view mirror. I could open the door (touching the handle) and lock the door (also touching front of handle). I then waited 4 minutes
and then tried to get in and the car remained locked. Touched the remote and it then would let me in.

2. When you lock the car in a parking lot or street you can lock the remote (as you go into the store) by pressing the lock button once and the unlock button twice at the same time. Now the remote will not allow the car to open up. So now no Relay theft in the parking lot or street.

I'm still learning more about this car. It is the First New car that I ever bought. just wish it came with 2 keys.

Thanks for that, I didn't know about that "Four Minute Rule". I'll see if it applies to our 2023 RX.

EDIT: Works the same as you describe on our '23. Perhaps that was included in the latest OTA software update!

OMG, is that like patting your head and rubbing your tummy at the same time? (Or is it the other way 'round?)

I was never very good at that, my whole life. :

So faraway bags not necessary at least after four minutes I presume?

This is the real question. Is there a gyro or other motion-sensor inside the keyfob, or otherwise how would it process if its sitting still ?

If the fob deactivates after 4 minutes, that it should also not interact with the car and drain the 12 V battery (while sitting on the rear-view mirror in this example), as the others have noted in the 12 V battery drain forum. The faraday pouch protects against both theft and the 12 V battery drain, if the keyfob didn't already auto-deactivate.

They steal the new RX daily in Canada. They usually break the rear door glass, crawl inside the car without opening the door and now they are ripping the dash apart to get to computer behind glove box to program their keys and start the car.

The organized thieves know the vehicles better than the dealers.

They tried stealing mine twice, the second time they broke the panoramic sunroof. The rear window glass was back ordered, sunroof glass was $8000 plus tax.

Damn! That is insanely priced. I thought my front windshield on the RX that had to be replaced was a lot. Gotta love the port of Montreal
