2024 Price/Lease Thread
So the fact of the matter is - once I factored in as non-negotiables: (1) PHEV with > 40 miles pure EV range + 35 mpg hybrid/gas mileage, (2) Reliability and dependability (proven drive-train from Rav4 Prime, no Turbo gas engine, etc) (3) Sufficient HP (300+) and torque - the RX450H+ really has very little credible competition in the market. Finally, given to me, "badge" is only for those lacking inherent self-esteem (
), there was pretty much nothing left in the market to compete with the RX450H+ for my wallet. Even the Volvo PHEVs are far more expensive, aside from the BMW and Merc PHEVs that can be 10's of grands more when loaded with options - still at the strong risk of worse reliability.

It currently has over 750 miles and still almost half a tank of gas left. This was the original tank of gas when we purchased the vehicle. The gas was used up on a couple of short road trips of around 100-150 miles round trip.
Agreed, I went through a similar thought process.

True. No tariffs - yet? Given that parts for cars cross the border 5-9 times, it will be interesting to see if they are tariffed each time or if they get a hall pass after the first crossing. Regardless, 25% is bound to raise prices and reduce availability. By how much? Who knows.
Not sure what it costs to ship a vehicle from Japan to US vs Canada to US. If these tariffs last longer than a few months, perhaps Lexus will ship more Japan manufactured vehicles to the US and send more Canadian vehicles outside the US.
How was your overall experience to buy a new vehicle out of state? would the Atlanta dealers ship cars? TIA!
UPDATE - finished negotiating with 2 Atlanta dealers (5 hours away) on RX350 Premium. Dealer 1 price (vehicle MSRP, destination fee, "stealer" doc/service/profit fee) was $57,800. Dealer offered $3.5K off this (6%). $54,300 total cost (before FL sales tax and minor tax and reg fees). Dealer 2 MSRP was $58,900 (vehicle had some add'l options - mudguards, illum door sills, side puddle lamps). Dealer took $4K off his MSRP (6.8%). $54,900 total cost before TTL. Went with Dealer 2 (as I am okay with the illum door sills, puddle lamps, and mudguards). Would have probably done some of these items with aftermarket parts on car 1 anyway if I bought it instead. May have left a couple hundred $ on the table, but no big deal in the big scheme of things, since I am getting the colors and options I want.
But I do have one last question: Is there anything I should do to ensure I get the car that I put the deposit on? I have not received a buyer's order yet (Sales Manager said it should be Monday). And the dealer doesn't have the car in their possession yet (should be received in the next couple of days). Having never bought over internet or out of state, I'm a little wary/skeptical.
Please let me know about any pitfalls. Or just tell me I am paranoid. Thanks!

I bought my car from a dealer a little over 100 miles away. They shipped it for free. I did everything on the internet. As long as you reserved it with a deposit and have the exact specs on the car, that allocation should be reserved for you and not be an issue. This is a normal process for Toyota/Lexus. It's much different from years ago when you went and ordered the exact car and options you wanted. Buying an allocated car saves the dealer money by not having to pay floor plan costs and you are usually able to get better deal and have more selection than buying off the lot. Good job.
Thanks for your info. It's very helpful! Haven't bought a car in over a decade. This process is new for us. When dealer shipped the vehicle to you, its delivered on your driveway, or a local dealer parking lot?

The car came right to my driveway. Just make sure you do a walk around prior to signing for it. Mine was fine but you just want to protect yourself. It's much easier to rectify an issue if its noted before the driver leaves.
I have bought my past 8 cars out of state. It is very common nowadays. Shipping costs are far outweighed by available discounts outside of your local market and there are many services that handle the registration etc to streamline the process.
Do beware of auto shippers and DEF inspect any car that is shipped to you via a dealership. They are independent contractors and have no affiliation with any dealership. It is a shady business. Just inspect the car well upon delivery.
