Lug bolt Engineering!
Yes, its a 14x1.5, I ordered a metal one today from amazon to toss into the spare tire toolkit. Those 21" wheels/tires are hard enough to handle, even with a proper guide, especially for a roadside tire change due to a flat.
Lexusnyca, did the metal guide you purchased from Amazon fit correctly? Which one did you order? Thanks.
Interesting i haven't seen that. this design probably means less wear and tear on the wheel from repeated fastening. if you look at any BMW that has had its wheels off and on, you'll see that part of the wheel ground down from repeated tightening. still works.. just unsightly..
i know the supra and IS (a long time ago) adopted plain BMW/german style bolts with no independent collar/head thingy, so did they switch to this *even newer* bolt design?

I ordered that one also. I just got it today and the diameter and threads are an exact match for the resin one under the rear mat next to the spare tire. So it is now nestled back there, hopefully never to be used.
Does anyone here know what size are on the RX? Thinking of getting these for easy wheel mounting.
Just found out that ours comes with 1 guide pin after ready the manual.

Check out this thread, mounting bolt specs listed and a link to more wheel hangers.

Has anyone replaced the lug bolts with a set of traditional lug studs and nuts? I've tried several wheels, including the 4th Generation RX350 F-Sport black wheels on my 5th Generation RX, but was told the lug bolts "wouldn't work" because of the way they're "seated."
I'm seriously thinking of removing all the lug bolts, replacing them with traditional studs & nuts so I can use different wheels.
Can anyone tell me why I should not or could not replace the lug bolts with traditional studs?
Thanks in advance.

There really is nothing much negative about switching to studs other than a very minor increase in unsprung weight that a wheel may compensate for anyway. Finding everything you need to make the swap may be a little challenging.
