I tried to connect my 2023 350 to my home network. My PW requires a CAP letter. There is an UP arrow but that did not do anything. I click on the arrow to get a CAP A, nothing still small a. I held on to the arrow and click on a, nothing. Usually you can change from lower case to a cap pretty easily. Is there some way to get a CAP. Really appreciate any help..

 

Don't have the car yet to help with onboard keyboard but try an external usb keyboard if it will work on this car.

 

I got an appointment next week with the dealer. Somehow the UP arrow was disabled ( or defective) so may need some programming to activate it. I never connected a usb KB to the car so don't know how to proceed. Anyway the dealer asked me why connect to the home wifi, what for? I don't really have a good answer to that.

 

I think it would be a bluetooth keyboard you could try to pair, not a USB keyboard.

Well I guess you would connect to your home network if you wanted to get software updates for the car and didn't have a phone capable of a hotspot, or if you didn't want to use up a lot of data plan GBs on it. There is nothing out of the ordinary with wanting to connect your home network.

I will look at the glass keyboard to type something else in, and see if you can get a CAP in there.

 

If the USB keyboard connects it would be automatic if this system accepts it. Others need to see if their caps work to see what is going on. I think that wifi is only for software updates only from what I hear but not sure. If caps are not supposed to work you could just use a guest acct on your router with all lower case for password for it looks like the rare moment you would need it anyway.

 

On the 2023 RX 350, on the right of the Shift ****, the are 2 USB C inputs. All my kb usb and wireless are the type A (old standard). I wonder if anybody else has this weird problem. I never had a upper/lower case problem before.. Thank you all for chipping in. Much appreciated.

 

After spending hours on this, I finally got the UPPER arrow to work, i.e. just keep tapping it, double and triple tapping on the arrow and I got the UPPER case. So with the proper pw I got connected to my home WIFI. Hope this helps someone..

 

Since you are connected what can you do with it. When I asked it was strictly for software updates. Also the usb type A is under the sliding door

 

Any of the services in the car that would normally require a cellular data plan subscription - so if you want to stream Apple Music in your driveway, it will work. Obviously its more realistic to tether to your phones' hotspot - but remember when you do that, you lose wireless CarPlay/AA and then have to run that over the USB-A instead.

 

Ok so Apple music is an app built into the car? If so what other apps are built in as when I research I can't find anything. I know externally you can get anything.

 

Check the infotainment source screen, I believe Apple and also Amazon Music are in there.

 

Ok I don't have the car yet but reading about the integrated streaming and see an active subscription plan with Lexus has to be in effect to use it. I was hoping it would be a built in app to just use with a phone hotspot but no go. So basically that wifi will only be used for software updates unless you are on trial or afterwards plan of wifi connect with Lexus.

 

I have a trial cellular network 4g lte with att. Can I just use my phone for Google Map and not have to subscribe to att plan?

 

Yes use your phone for Google Maps and let the trial ATT plan expire. I did not have any regrets! My iPad works fine in my RX by using my 14 Pro Max hot spot if needed.

I googled but lots of posts seemed to say we need a data plan. I do not plan to stream music from Amazon or Apple. I do not need Apple and Google auto,, only Google map..
