Default gas cap!

ok folks, help me out here... when i unscrew the gas cap on the LC, there appears NOWHERE good to 'put' the cap while filling up the car and i don't like letting it just dangle against the paint below the opening.

i also don't understand why there's an "s-shaped" part of the thin cord from the cap to the car, is that designed to serve some purpose?

every single other car i've owned or driven has allowed me to put the cap in the flap while filling or worst case, hang it over the door.

what am i missing?

There shud be a circular retainer on gas cap door. Place the cap bottom down on it.

But on a related matter, my gas cap release on my 2018 sticks sometimes and fails to open door....Sometimes I have to press it multiple times to get the darn thang to open.

When I got my LC I removed the attachment to the cap. I like to remove cap & sit it on pump while refueling, I don't like the idea of it just dangling against the paint & the retainer near the door is worthless. Just my 2 cents.

HA ha. Porsche has one too. That thing costs 160 bucks. Lexus could make some money offering those.

Mine has a catcher and you just have to mash it in the circular hole.
