If they have to install on the passenger side, I would have to accept. This device, after the novelty wears off, will not need any attention to do its job. I will print out the nice picture that Lexus shows where it is installed on the driver side to show them. I think it is worth having the camera either way.

Dealer just called and my Lexus dash cam has arrived. My salesperson has set up a loaner for next Tuesday morning. He says it takes a few hours.

I will tell the service people AND leave a sign in the vehicle that the camera must be mounted on the driver’s side of the rear view mirror. If they can’t, well that depends on my mood.

Will let everyone know.

Dropped the 350h off this am and the loaner was a 2022 RX350. I always complained about the CVT but after getting into the loaner, I won’t anymore. The transmission causes quite a delay sometimes while it hunts for the right gear. The 350h has instant acceleration with the CVT and electric motors. Much more responsive.

‘Anyway, looking forward to getting my baby back! Holding my breath that there is no damage or dents. I made the service tech walk around my vehicle to witness there is zero body/paint damage. I also confirmed with them the dashcam would be mounted on the driver side and included a picture from the Lexus site showing it that way. They said it would take 2-3 hours to complete the install. Glad I got a fixed price!

@ggebhardt ...what was the price paid for the camera? And then how much for the install? It's curious how different every dealer is on both the cost of the camera, as well as install time.

Post photo when you get it showing it on the correct side so we all have a real photo showing it in the right place

$475 plus tax and a rental while the work is being done.

They already called and said they can not install on the driver side so I told them to forget it.

After thinking about it for few minutes, I called them back and told them to go ahead as it is still worth it to have this protection.

Front and rear dash cams should be built in at the factory. It would maybe add a couple hundred bucks . . . . .

Why is that the Lexus brochures show the cam on the driver side yet dealers claim they cannot install it that way?

I asked the same. Even printed the picture and showed the service rep. They have no answers. All I can think is the power cord is too short to get to the place where there is power, I don’t know. The rain sensor is on the right side of the rear view mirror so it will be way to the right of the driver. Why put the emergency button on it when it is so far away?

Sometime life does not seem fair, but in the scheme of things, this is only a small problem. Things can always be worst!

I wonder if it is a Japan vs. Canada build thing? The wiring harness https://parts.sptoyota.com/products/...0-wire-harness sure looks like it is long enough or easily lengthened.

Not sure why a lot of you are so intent on having the camera on the drivers side. I can reach it either way and once its set up you don't need to access it at all.

‘Why would you not want it on the driver side. The rain sensor is on the right side of the mirror so why not put the camera on the drivers side. Just because you can reach it does not make it as convenient to operate. There is also a button that can be used to quickly record an event, now I will have to reach over and look for it to push.

Software/app downloaded to phone and it works as expected and will download from the camera. It is done.

Good points unfortunately it's not possible for the driver side.
