Default Drive Start Control malfunction

I have had this alert appear 3 times now in the past 3-4 weeks when I start the RX. It goes away on its own after several seconds of driving. I read up on it and it's supposed to be a function that prevents sudden unintended acceleration or something similar.

Is there anyone here who has encountered the same problem? Do I need to have it checked by the dealer right away or can it wait until the first scheduled maintenance?

Thanks!

I have not heard of this particular error. I did a Google and found the same information you found.

I would call the dealer and ask them if it is still OK to drive.

Sorry you are having an issue, please keep us all posted!

Doesn't sound too urgent...especially if you aren't selecting gears with your foot on the accelerator.

"Toyota's other new safety system is Drive-Start Control. According to the automaker, if the system senses that the wrong gear has been selected from Park while the driver is pressing on the accelerator, a warning is flashed on the dashboard and engine output is reduced "to limit a sudden start or acceleration." There are a number of scenarios where the system might kick in – for example, if a driver bumps into something while reversing, panics and shifts into a forward gear without letting up on the accelerator, DSC would take over."

Default Same issue

I got exactly the same issue so I went to dealership. According to them, it’s an internal transmission issue(It seems it took whole day to figure out that issue because that message comes and goes). They will replace whole transmission for that issue. Good thing it’s got covered by warranty😅

Always get the extended warranty. A Dollar a day is cheap piece of mind

I've never seen this. Does the engine start? Can you put it in drive and go?

Likely it is intermittent, may not re-occur, let us know.

My 2017 RX presented this message upon being started, the last line of which says "have your vehicle inspected immediately", which I did. The Lexus service technician reported there was no problem (no stored code, nothing) and further said the only condition that can turn this message on is to put a foot on the gas pedal while starting the car. The corrective action is to keep the foot off the gas when starting. This means it is not a problem and you don't need to do anything about it, which contradicts the message. It does not seem to me this issue is resolved but I can't think of anything to do about it.

Default Any fixes?

I'm encountered the same issue, the error pops up every few days and mainly on cold days. Has there been any fixes to resolve this issue?

This Is from Toyota Nation site 2 months ago. "Toyota's other new safety system is Drive-Start Control. The thing I'm confused about is that the malfunction comes up when I just start the vehicle normally. I'm in park and my foot is firmly on the brake only when I start the vehicle.

Are you still under warranty? Because it sounds broken to me.

Still under warranty for another 6k miles, I'm bringing it in for service next Monday. Apparently the malfunction has popped up multiple times for the previous owners since it's stored in the car.
