Default Covering up the touchpad

Hey Guys,

I just bought my first Lexus: '22 RX 450h . Great car, I only have two issues:
- factory tires sucked; this was easy to resolve with some new tires (went with Michelin CrossClimate 2, very happy with it so far)
- touchpad is annoying and at the worst possible location
It's exactly at the place where I would rest my fingers so I often accidentally activating it. Is there a way to disable it somehow? I guess some duct tape would do the job but would look silly in a new car

Thanks for any tips in advance!

To "disable" the TouchPad you could pull the corresponding fuse. But, that could disable other more important devices. Yep, duct tape might be the cheapest and most effective solution to your problem.

Glad my 2022 came with Michelin tires.

I believe the Touch Pad would still be sensitive under the duct tape. You would have to put something solid over the pad before tape???

would a microfiber folded or something similar work ??
duct tape ?? so you would opt to never use the pad again for anything, ever??
(is it ever needed ?? )

I like the touchpad and mine came with Michelin OEM’s which are also very good so far. Good luck with your new RX.

I can tell you that something as light as my iPhone cord can cause the cursor to move and cause feedback noises and sensations. Of course, you can adjust sensitivity levels, but the effect would still happen, meaning the screen would still activate at the lightest touch.

I would think that you would need to place something solid over it with a small air gap....like a box around the whole touchpad but not touching the pad itself.

Find a teenager and have them 3D print one at school....should be an easy project. If done well it would look nice and be very functional.

There should be a kit that enables the armrest to slide forward and cover the touchpad

That! The charging cable touches the damn thing and f*ks up things. Is it so damn hard to deactivate it? Lazy bastards make us jump through hoops instead of doing a sw update that would simply ignore all input from the touchpad when selected. If someone likes the stupid thing -- they are free to use, but I hate it.

If there is interest I could design and 3d print a cover. I haven't driven mine enough yet to figure out if its useful or an annoyance. To me it seems easier to use the touch screen. I guess message me? if your interested and I'll see if I can draw something up this weekend possibly. I've been meaning to get my printer fired up since we moved a few months back, just haven't had a reason!
