Having lived with this for several months I came out to my car one morning and it wouldnt start due to battery issue but the battery never went totally dead. I had to jump the car with jump leads from my daughters car and once it started lo and behold the vent is working again!!!
Glad it fixed the vent problem, but now what about the battery? How old is it?

The battery was 3 years old and I replaced it. The vents are still working properly.

Default Air vent has stopped blowing air

I have a RX 2020 and one of the center vents (driver side) has stopped blowing air. I tried to perform a "reset" disconnecting the battery for 15min and still have the issue 😔. Any advise will be appreciated.

Thanks! ✌️

Has the drivers side vent on the dash near the window stopped working?

Not blowing much air. You can feel the difference between the passanger and driver side vents. Is like driver side blowing air as "medium" and the passanger side blowing as "hi". Regarding center vents, driver side is dead and passanger side works perfectly.

There are servo motors (actuators) that control vents which direct air. It could be that one of those vents is stuck or the servo motor is bad. I think there are 3 servo motors.

I don’t want to offend by asking a silly question, but is it possible you are set for dual temp zones and the passenger side is just set for a much lower temperature than the drivers side? Sometimes the answer can be just that simple.

Hi! I went to the dealer this morning and they told me that one servo motor is dead and they need to remove the dash to replace it 😔. They tried to reset the ac module and servo motor does not responds. Short story.... $1300 parts + labor 😭

Dealers will now charge $125 - 150 per hour or more for labor. They're costs are going up. If they have to take apart the dash then goodbye bank account. It will be an all day project.

I remember replacing a servo motor myself for the same problem quite a few years ago on a prior Rx that I owned. I remember that I found a youtube video that helped me and the motor was cheap. I have no idea if it is possible to do this yourself for your specific motor but I would at least do a little online homework if it were me before I spent $1300. Once you can get at the motor, it takes a couple minutes to install the plug and play motor.

Default 2017 RX350 HVAC Recirc/Fresh air door servo help!

My wife’s RX has had issues in the past with critters getting in the cabin air filter area since we normally park outside year round. The other day she complained about a squeak noise, which I thought was the drive belt without actually hearing it. Turned out to be one of the servo motors behind the dash. I told her not to worry about it.

Since I was there I checked her cabin air filter. And behold! Acorns and mice poop!

I cleaned it all out, checked the blower fan and cycled everything with the cabin filter door open to verify it was ok.

At this point I’ve cycled the recirc/auto/fresh air button but noticed no doors moving. So I took out the glove box to find a large white cam looking thing that is supposed to move the recirc/fresh doors simultaneously. Well, nothings moving and the center of that cam looks crooked. I fiddled with trying to line the doors back up into their tracks but the motor wasn’t able to move the doors due to binding it seems.

I will not bring this to a dealer and would like to replace this servo/cam assembly in hopes to get it all working again. But, there is so little space in between the two housing (behind center console houses the evaporator coil and heater coil while right housing behind glove box houses the filter & blower.).

I’ve dug through eBay trying to get an idea of what I’m up against. It seems the blower housing separates from the part behind the center dash area but not sure if it can be done w/o removing the whole dashboard.

im also worried the plastic pins that ride in the cam might be disfigured from the servo trying to force them to move while binding against acorns.

sorry for the long winded story but this is what I know so far. I’ll attach a picture if the part I’m talking about.

Big job. You’d have to get most of the dash trims out.

Just claim insurance and be done with it.

I had similar "problem" on my 2018. My long term technicians ( over 40 years) immediately checked AC refrigerant level, and it was low. Flushed and filled to proper level. Problem solved.
